On Nov. 18, 2022, I entered into a written contract with ******************************* for the installation of a new gravel and concrete driveway. I paid a deposit of $2160. The total stated price of the contract was $5400. After entering into the contract, it was very difficult to get information from him about the project and he would refuse to answer questions about schedules, and other pertinent details. He would fail to answer phone calls and respond to text messages. The information I was able to obtain from him concerning materials required was incomplete. I later learned from him that he intentionally omitted information I needed to obtain an owner permit because it would require the job to cost approx. $2000 more. Essentially, he had quoted me a price before actually looking up the local requirements for the project. He later said he had never done a gravel driveway before and was "not embarrassed" he did not know the requirements. On Dec. 9, 2022, when it was clear he could not do the job for the original contract price, I requested to cancel the contract and the return of my deposit. He got angry, disrespectful and yelled at me. Ultimately he said he would return my deposit via Zelle but he did not. He has not responded to any of my texts after this conversation.
