6/6/2024 I purchased a refrigerator from *** Appliance. They put it in my van on its side . Told me when I got home to wait 24 hours before I plug it in . Mind you that this is a refurbished/ used fridge. So after a day n half , ( I waited approx 32 hours) Plugged the refrigerator in and it didn't work. I have a 30 day warranty that goes with fridge. I took it back., told the employee it didn't work that I just wanted a refund. . He went and got the owner and he said nothing doing. It worked fine when you left here and you packed it on its side so you void your 30 warranty and no refund. I told him it's there fault , that's how they packed it into my van . And I'd want my money back. He then threatened me to get off the property or he was goin to kick my @$$,. I really need my ***** I paid , I'm on a fixed income . I'm scared to go back there. I have done some research and come to find that this is an issue.with this store and this owner. There are others that have been treated this way as well as been ripped off.

As you can see stated on his receipt that he provided to you, the warranty is void and states it is because it was transported in their minivan laid down per the customer's request. Customer was informed before he paid for the refrigerator if he laid it down the warranty would be void. We offer delivery service at an additional cost, but it was declined.  When the customer left with the refrigerator, he was shown that the refrigerator was cold and working and that the warranty would be void if he laid it down. He chose to proceed.

We do not recommend laying them down and will not warranty them if you do. The oil in the compressor can travel into the lines and cause a restriction which prevents it from cooling.

When the customer returned with the refrigerator in his minivan, it was all scratched up and dented on the side that was in contact with the floor of his minivan. He demanded a refund, the employee got the manager who informed him there would be no refund to which he was immediately belligerent, yelling and cussing, threating to fistfight our staff demanding his money back. He was reminded of the receipt he signed acknowledging the warranty was void before he purchased and left with the refrigerator originally.

He was asked to leave the premises. He was told to take the refrigerator with him as it was his, but he left the refrigerator here anyway, after 30 days it was scraped.

We have had complaints in the past from other customers in this same situation. We will not refuse to sell you a refrigerator transported on its side however you take your chances understanding we are not going to warranty it. It is up to you to proceed forward. Customers are agreeable to the conditions until it doesn't work when they plug it in, at which point they bring it back in the same manner as this customer has, demanding a refund.  We then show them their receipt reminding them of what they agreed to and signed acknowledging they understood. We can't do any more than that.

      Thank you,

Hello BBB, sorry for our delayed response, typically we receive a notice in the mail if there are any issues, to-date we have not. Thank you, BBB, for giving us a call yesterday to notify us of the situation.

In response to the customer's complaint. The customer came into our shop to purchase an appliance, unfortunately she was acting extremely neurotic from our first interaction. At one point the employee asked what has happened to cause her to act this way, her response was "none of your f*ing business".
The customer continued to make her purchase with a credit card and left.
Sometime went by and the customer then called and came in because she "changed her mind" and wanted a refund. As listed in bold and outlined on the contract signed by the customer it clearly states there are no refunds. We offer a free warranty if something should break but we do not give refunds on large, refurbished appliances. It's posted in the office as well as on the signed contract.
As a small business we are charged each time we process anything on the credit card machine.
Although the customer is not entitled to a refund at all, *** decided it was best to not do business with someone like this and refunded her money, less 10% to cover her processing fees that were incurred due to making a purchase, then deciding to "change her mind" causing us to process her card again to issue the refund.
This small amount doesn't nearly cover all of the money spent by ***, including the hourly wages for the employees who had to deal with her on three different occasions.
We have the whole interaction on video recording, along with her signed contract.
We feel we already bent the rules enough for this customer and she is not due anymore refunds.

Attached is the call log of the SEVEN ********* attempted to contact the customer for delivery. During the phone calls a time frame for delivery was given. Not only did we call, but we also went to their house a minimum of three separate times with the washing machine to complete the delivery. The customer paid a small $20 delivery fee. After our repeated attempts the customer was told to call us when he would actually be home for the delivery. The delivery has been completed. The customer is in fact the person "lying" about the phone calls. This complaint was a complete waste of the BBB's time and resources.

They sold me a faulty washer. I've had it for 2 weeks. I was told if it broke I'd have to bring it back. I'm 5 miles from them. They told me it was out of their delivery zone. I own a jeep. Also that informed me that anything that would come from the appliance store would work. I've only used less then 7x. I'm a single older female. They sold me a lemon! Horrible service! They said they'd fix it if I brought it to them. How? Rent a truck and dolly and load it myself? I just moved here aug 5.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/09/02) */ Everything was tested and working properly on your washing machine you have had for 3 weeks (8/11/2021), that you used "10 times" according to your google review. You are also 10 miles away from our shop, not 5 as you stated. Although there are many reasons water could be coming out from under a washing machine (for example, a rodent chewed the line, the drain hose came out from your wall, your drain that is connected to your tub sink next to your washer isn't draining fast enough and so on) you were provided a full warranty with your washing machine should something need repair after purchase, as all of our appliances are guaranteed. *Before* making your purchase the salesman you dealt with took extra time to explain to you that you are outside of our service area. We service in-home all the way South to Alderman Road in Palm Harbor and as far North as Hudson Ave in Hudson. It was made very clear verbally and in writing during purchase that you were out of our service area and if a repair was needed it would need to be brought back to us. It is BBO (bring back only) on your receipt where you signed and initialed acknowledging the same. To-date you still have a full warranty, if you would like to bring it in we will gladly make any repairs needed for free.
