    I purchased a used 2017 gmc terrain from Castriota in February2020. It had approx. 21000 miles on it. I purchased an extended warranty at that time . Paying 2332.00 for 7 years. It expired in February 2024. Because the 7 years included the 3 years from manufactured date. (Shame on me . ) I went to Castriota for every problem and oil change in the 4 years since purchase. Then in April 2024 I decided the vehicle being 7 years old I could go to Walmart for an oil change. Walmart refiused to change the oil because they said I didn’t have a dip stick. I went to Castriota on May 1 2024 for an oil change. They showed me a cabin filter that was dirty and needed changing ( I never even heard of a cabin filter) the cost was 60 dollars and then an air filter which was 40 dollars. So 244 dollars later we left. On about June 8th my air conditioning was not cooling the vehicle. It was sporadic. Never got very cool. I called Castriota and made an appointment for Monday the 17th.we dropped the vehicle off at 8 am. We left at 830. They called about an hour and a half later . Dan was the technician. He said the condenser and compressor were gone. We needed them & a few seals. I don’t remember an exact quote but I do remember saying 2 thousand dollars!!!!!! Omg so much money !! After a few more word we said we need air in Florida as it’s our only vehicle. They would call when ready. About 315 Dan called and said everything fell into place nicely and the vehicle was ready. I asked how much. He 2450.52. I screamed what!!! You said 2000. He said he gave me an exact quote of 2450.52. We went to get the vehicle and pay) I. He played a recording of our conversation.. I know he never told me he was recording the call. We paid and I asked him to see where my dip stick was. He opened the hood and stated I didn’t have one and must have left it at an in and out when had the oil changed. Alll oil changes were there . My friend is going thru the same thing now with them. They are scamming us.

    Customers car showed no signs of oil under the hood, so the dipstick could not have been missing for any extended period. Customer was quoted over the phone the exact price of the repair and she agreed to it. All calls to Service Advisors are recorded for just this reason. Customer heard the recording and never denied that she accepted. We do not scam our customers, all service and repairs are above board. We supplied customer with a new dipstick at no charge.

    One week later a friend had the exact same thing happen with her car . She paid over 2500. I would like to know how many other people had air conditioning fail in the last few months who go to this dealer. Also May 1st was when I learne my dipstick was missing. I took my car to this dealer for 4 years and they never said it was missing. How come? No one but them ever went under the hood until May 1st. Either way they lost 2 customers . My friend and I are not going back. I am curious tho about others who went there in the last few months and had problems with air conditioner.
