Took dog for yearly on 3/19. Diagnosed by vet 1 with ear infection. Given steroid shot and ear cream. Dog began vomiting & couldnt keep water down. Saw vet 2 on 3/22. Diagnosed with diabetes and gastroenteritis. Given shot for nausea; prescribed insulin and antibiotic for gastroenteritis. Dog couldnt keep water down over weekend. Saw ***** on 3/25. Vet looked at same bloodwork as vet 2. Diagnosed ketoacidosis and a uti. I said vet 2 never mentioned either of those. Could you go and confer with him about this. ***** said she was not responsible for the other dr. ***** claimed I had refused hospitalization. Vet 2 never advised hospitalization. Then the vet and office manager got hostile and told me I should leave. I have been to this practice for 25+ years. I suspect they must have made a huge mistake to warrant such a reaction. I never raised my voice. The office manager said youre one of those people who acts nice but is actually nasty.

If I could rate a zero, I would. A week ago I took my service dog in. Specifically asked that he not be handled roughly. Needed him checked for some hot spots and bites he had (as previously treated by another vet/state). Dr. Kovell and his assistant Chelsea was so rough with him that he wet the floor! Told us to back away. Lifted him slightly up and said he saw the spots - he couldn't have since he only looked quick at his belly and the spots were on his hind end covered by hair. Said he had fleas which he definitely does not since he is treated for them. (A bath after just to make sure showed zero fleas). Also asked that his ears be checked - vet did not. Voiced concern over loose stools and was told to change his food; A visit to a different clinic found worms for which he was treated for. Total Bill that we were offered was over $400. We paid $60 for the office visit. We refused treatment because of his lack of propper exam. When we complained, Dr. Kobell came back in and yelled at us. No one else in the office even cared enough to stop us and see if our dog was ok. I phoned our current vet in MD. She suspected either seasonal allergies or mites - neither which were discussed or checked for by Kobell. A complaint with the Acupet manager did not solve any problem nor were we refunded any money. She agreed with the vet's diagnosis even though she was not involved with the appointment. I believe this could be animal cruelty in a way. To treat an animal for something they didnt check for or have is wrong. Totally unacceptable.
