Brought my Lexus in foe a repair estimate. Got an estimate was in line with other estimates I had gotten. Brought my car in for repairs and was told it would take 2 weeks (this was after I paid them a deposit for material needed for repairs of roughly $700. In 4 days I got a message that it would cost me roughly another $1,000 and would take an additional two weeks (so I would be out of my car for roughly a month and driving their "loaner Car_ ($450 a day). I told them that I felt it had been a "bait and switch" approach and I simply wanted my car back (which I was told would cost me an additional $700 Got my car back and only paid an additional $300, BUT NOTHING WAS REPAIRED AT ALL

*** ******** vehicle had damage on both side of his vehicle and requested two separate estimates.   *** ****** indicated he would be paying for these repairs, and not going through his insurance.  Once the vehicle was brought in to start the repairs it was discovered during our tear down step that right-side door intrusion beam was compromised.  That beam is built into the door and protects the occupant in the event of collision from the side.  That part comes with the entire door shell only and would need to be ordered.  We added the additional items needed to properly complete the repairs to a supplemental estimate for the right-side repair and presented that to *** ****** along with a revised timeline.  Supplemental estimates are done just about everyday in the collision repair industry.  Unfortunately, when a customer is paying out of pocket the customer must pay the difference for the repair.  We will not sacrifice properly repairing a vehicle in the interest of staying within an estimate, especially when not properly repairing the vehicle compromises the safety of the customer.  It would not be fair to ask us to absorb cost differences for these repairs.

As for the repairs to the left side of the vehicle, the additional supplement to repair that side was $46.32.  *** ****** did not want to proceed with any of the repairs and wanted his vehicle back.  We stop the repairs and proceeded to put his vehicle back together.  *** ****** was only charged to put his vehicle back together as requested.  My suggestion in these cases where repairs exceed $5,000 is to get your insurance company involved, which is still an option for *** ******.
