On 3/2/22 my husband dropped off our 2010 Land Rover LR4 at this shop to have the valve cover gaskets replaced. We recieved a call on 3/9 from the owner, *****, and were told that the brake vaccum pump also needed to be repaired. He gave us an updated quote and said he would order the parts. The next day ***** called us again and told us that he had broken an injector off in the head and that he couldn't work on it any further. During the call he explained that normal procedure was to lubricate the injectors overnight for easier removal the next day. He said he did this but still could not remove the injectors. Instead of informing us of any issues, he said he continued to try to remove one of the injectors for half the day until it eventually broke. My husband and I were completely unaware that there were any problems at all. It is common practice to inform customers of any potential issues that may arise, especially if it could cause damage. ***** did not do this and we were not told about the seized injectors and given the chance to decide whether or not we wanted him to proceed with the repairs. He told us that he did not feel responsible and wouldn't give me his insurance information. He said to have the vehicle towed and suggested taking it to the dealership. The dealership told us that in order to remove the broken injector, both heads will have to be removed which will mean that a lot of other parts/gaskets will have to be replaced. They couldn't provide us with an estimate due to the nature of the repair. We found a shop, **** Motorwerks, that agreed to have the vehicle towed there so that they could give us an estimate of repair costs. They told us that the engine is completely torn apart and the parts are all over the back of the truck. There's also a coolant line that has been cut. They gave us an estimate of $14,325.26 to do the work needed regarding the injector. So now we are left with an inoperable vehicle and a very large bill to fix it.
