we market for 2 years for ***** **** ***** and they ran customers cards and sent out invoices and engines but unfortunately we companied apart from them but customers come back to us for warranty and we have been taking care of them out of our own pocket.

we absolutely have no problem with honoring warranty as we have done for 20 years but all everyone needs, is to be calm and not start the phone conversations with threatening and not making the life harder for each other.

      Dear Ma'am, Sir,

On 04/18/2022 ******* ******* called our company to purchase a 2014 Land Rover Range Rover 5.0-liter engine. She received the engine and drove it. Opened up the engine. It was missing a bolt inside the engine. In this case the engine couldn’t have run even 100 miles and would have been destroyed right away but the customer said she drove it about 4000 miles, On our policy page we are very clear that opening up the engine without our authorization, voids the warranty. The customer told us over the phone that the head was warped and that means it was overheated and our policy does not warranty any overheating and it’s written very clearly that any sign of overheating will void the warranty. The customer failed to provide the break-in oil change which is 500 after installation and then 1000 miles. Those 2 oil changes are the most important for a brand-new remanufacturer. If the break-in oil change is not done inside the engine metal shaving will be created and gets in to the oil pump and blows up the engine. In any case of above, the customer either overheated the engine which voids the warranty and opening up our engine that is still under warranty without our authorization will void the warranty and this is typical for any remanufactured unit sold by any remanufacturer. one can not even open up a used engine without authorization from the vendor. because after opening it up we won't know what a mechanic would do to the engine.

in this case unfortunately the warranty for our customer ******* ******* has been voided.

please feel free to ask if you have any questions or concerns about it.

      Thank you

I bought on engine from them in July of 2021. I also bought a 3 year warranty on parts and labor. The timing chain broke on the motor last week. The car is currently at a local Kia dealership being repaired. Sharper Edge is saying the remanufacturer is responsible for repairs and the remanufacturer is saying it is up to Sharper Edge Engines. No one is wanting to honor the warranty. I have uploaded the invoice where I purchased the engine as well as documents showing maintenance of the engine.

      ****** ***** Warranty Claim

      Dear valued customer ****** *******

As you sent me the invoice yesterday via text message and I received it, if you read the form carefully, you'll see this under the page:

(By agreeing to this purchase, you agree to the terms and conditions as stated in our Policies section on our website) and the name of our website, which is the name of our company, is written very clearly on top of the page. plus, the mechanics all know everything about the engine installation as it's their job no matter it’s a used engine or a remanufactured Engine.

Here is the summery of oil change is provided by the customer:

1-we still have not yet received the required oil change at 1500.00 miles right after installation.
(We require all customers to change the oil at 1500.00 miles right after the installation. because this was a remanufactured engine with new bearings that mean the new bearings are flacking off metal and this requires a break-in oil change. The reason being if that is not done it will ruin the engine because the oil will be full of metal flakes. That instruction came with the engine, and we have it on our website. All mechanics should know this very well. he should have made you aware of that.)

2-From 06/12/2021 to 11/06/2021, mileage difference is: 4000 (not bad)

3- From 11/06/2021 to 04/23/2022, Mileage is: 5,611 (Harmful to the engine) this receipt is handwritten, and we do not accept handwritten receipts as we clearly note that on our website.
4- From 04/23/2022 to 05/24/2022 mileage difference is: 4,512 (not bad)

5- From 05/24/2022 to 12/07/2022 Mileage difference is: 8,993 miles (Harmful to the engine)

6- From 12/07/2022 to 12/27/2022, Mileage difference is: 2,605 Miles (Excellent)

Unless the customer provides this engine has been maintained based on our policy, the warranty is voided.
Note: If the customer provides non-handwritten receipts showing the engine has been maintained based on the policy on this website: *************************** this claim will be reopened.

Sharper Edge Engines provided no maintenance  or warranty information at the time I purchased the engine. The engine was supposed to be the exact same engine as was originally in the Kia Soul. If they required different maintenance than Kia they should have provided that information to me. Please see the attached. I actually changed the Oil much more frequently than Kia.com says is required.

Also at no time did they tell me I could not change the oil myself or that I was required to have the oil changed at a service station with a computer and tied to a national database.

I purchased a remanufactured engine via the internet and phone calls from Sharper Edge Engines Nov. 15, 2021 and after missing promised dates got the engine in Jan. 2022 and when installed it was found to have improper block welds and leaked oil. They promised to make it right and pay my mechanics to weld properly with TIG welds and reinstall. This was done only after second install to find more smaller cracks in block from pressure and leaks too much to be proper so engine was declared bad and they would pay and ship a second. This took months and upon getting second engine and installing it was NOT for 2016 F-Type Supercharged R AWD with V-8. It was not AWD and would require more work, changes and re-install and my mechanics wanted proof right engine as block numbers did not jive. Lots of promises and more expense by my mechanics but in the end they have NOT CALLED they ghosted me and I'm now out the cost of an engine. They got my engine back and remanufactured and made money on it. I have one worthless engine and another that doesn't go to my vehicle and their promised to pay my mechanics had failed to tune of about 15k so I'm out original 12,500 plus mechanic work due to install/reinstall for a total of 29,900 with a demand lawyer sent and no response. Next filing lawsuit for Fraud as they had another company Elite fill the order then make all the promised when I purchased based on talking with Sharper and never was told it was ELITE filling order and they have many 1 star fraud claims which I'm finding are true. I believe both worked to gether to get here. I have pictures and considerably more details and emails promising resolution all from earlier. No resolution.

we are filing lawsuit against them and possibly t will be a class action lawsuit.

what happened to you was not any of our fault.

I was following up with all the customers and all the problems as we clearly were a marketing arm for Elite. we didn't run customers' cards not sent the engine and nor gave warranty.

they were doing a great job for 2 years. they were sending great engines and suddenly went down to hell.

we all trusted that business and to this day we have no idea what happened.

no matter what we are gathering all the evidences against them .

We have tens of customers that have been robbed by ***** **** *****. we already reported them to the CA attorney General and the next step is to file the lawsuit.

in this between what can I do to help you out? please do let me know.

WARNING: DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS ‘COMPANY’. THEY ARE A FRAUD! FRAUD!!!! Get away!!! Ordered an engine for 2004 Land Rover on July 1, 2022. They said it will take 4-6 weeks. Still waiting for it (Oct.23rd, 2022). I called them back and ****, the owner, said call your credit card for your funds back cause you’ve been defraud. This is a system of credit card fraud. So what they did to me in the beginning is to assure me that my credit will protect me if anything goes wrong. I checked with them every 3 weeks or so, and *****, who I spoke to once or twice at the most, was very nice until she never call me back. just did not return my calls at all. Then when I spoke to ***** ******** recently, the guy who took my order in the first place, said this is a fraud since ****, the one who works on the engines is a con artist, and that there is an internal battle between him and the ‘company’. The transaction date was December 21, 2021. The engine has a one-year warranty replacement. The motor has went out of the vehicle three months ago. I have been fighting with the warranty group for the last three months. They stated they were going to replace the engine would be sent within 4 to 6 days. One week later, they entered so I had not received, and upon reaching out to them was told that the engine was not going to be received because the warranty was voided, because the core was never received back. I contacted ************ Hyundai that they stated that the core was picked up and was given the name of a contact person that I gave to the reman group which is the warranty company. I never heard back so within a couple of days or reaching out again, was told that the warranty was voided, not because of the core, but because of issues that they had with the sharper edge engines Company not following their protocol. They stated I would need to reach out to sharperengines and no one has returned my call I have called I’ve left several messages with no return call I have no other vehicle and the warranty should not be avoided for any reason they should have stood by their warranty and replaced the engine.

please provide me all the details on returning that core so I can restart your warranty with reman group. I left you a message asking the same thing. as soon as you send me the information, I can proof to them the core return and they have to provide another engine.

sorry for this miscommunications with the warranty company with you but the warranty companies love to voice the warranties so we have to provide them what they are asking you.

I bought an engine from them on 3-21-22. Received engine 5-25. Engine was installed and returned to me 7-2. With in a week I noticed it had developed an oil leak. Took vehicle back to mechanic on 7-25 to see where it was coming from. He stated it was coming from under Cylinder Head. Got vehicle back on the 28th and sent email stating what I had found and inquired what could be done. On 7-29 I got a call from Kar King Auto, their engine builder in California. He proceeded to tell me that there was no way his engine could be leaking and that me and my mechanic where wrong. Stated several times that I better hope it wasn't the head leaking because it was going to cost me money if it was. He stated we needed to provide pics of leak as well as pics of heat tabs. Took vehicle back to mechanic once again explaining what they needed from him. He got the pics and i sent them 8-5 to ***** ********. 8-17 I sent an email inquiring what they had decided. 8-18 I got a reply from ***** apologizing for the delay and would ask husband and their mechanic what they wanted to do. Stated they would call me back that day. 8-22 I never heard back so I sent email asking what they had decided. 8-22 ***** replied and stated that engine would need to come out and to let her know when it was. I send response asking about them sending replacement first, then me sending them the bad engine. 8-23 They stated they no longer done that and would need bad engine first. 8-23 I respond asking what is time frame and who is responsible for repair cost. 8-24 I send another email asking what time frame is. I have received no other email from them since their last email on the 23rd. I have called and left voice mails on 8-29, 8-30, 9-1 twice & 9-7. I can not have the engine pulled not knowing the time frame for replacement. The vehicle will be setting in a bay taking up space until new one comes in. Not being able to talk to anyone, I have little faith that engine would be picked up if it was pulled.

      Dear Ma'am, Sir,

the customer insisted on having the replacement engine as he still has our original engine and that's not the policy of any company.

I talked to the customer yesterday and he asked if we can fix the engine as it's in the car and I asked him if the engine is not over heated we can pay to fix it at the standard rate and if it's not fixable in the car we can pick it up and return it and inspect it and then send him  a replacement engine.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. However, this is not how the conversation went. I never insisted on them to send engine first. I asked if they could and they said it was not their policy. I agreed to that. This part of the complaint was resolved over a month ago. What I wanted to know and what got this whole complaint started is what is the turn around time once they pick up engine. How long will it take me to get engine back. When this question was asked over a month ago, this company went dark. The first I heard from them since I asked this question was yesterday. They stated it would be a 2 week turnaround. As the company stated, I asked if we could just have the engine repaired in the car if possible to avoid having to ship it to them and incur even more cost having to pull it out then reinstall. They agreed. I am waiting to hear back from my mechanic for an estimate to send to them.

I am rejecting this response because:

This is why I'm not happy my truck has been sitting in front of diamond motors since springtime is fall time now.
The shop will not look at the truck.
I don't understand what it takes that long for them to look at the truck and fix the issue.

I purchased a engine from this company in Nov 2021. **** was my contact at the company. The engine was installed into the truck in Dec 2021. In Feb 2022 the engine failed with 988 miles on it. I followed any and all install guidelines and was installed though a shop. When the engine failed, I did everything the warranty company asked (pictures, videos, etc along with paperwork and filled out and emailed within a timely matter to get the truck fixed (yet again). Upon several attempts to contact the warranty company with failed attempts getting a response. I contacted Shaper Edge Engines via email. Have all the correspondence with the owner assistance *****. She was finally able to find out the engine was in fact warranty and they would be replacing it. This was in April 2022. Was then told on several different emails, different dates in which the engine would ship. The engine finally shipped the end of May 2022. With the delay of the engine being delivered the shop had to keep pushing out the install. I was informed that the warranty company would pay for the labor and parts for install. They are now fighting to pay for the labor and parts for the install and giving the shop the run around. The shop reached put to us today to inform us of the issues they were having. I do have an email stating they would be paying. I have emailed the assistant to the Owner of Shaper Edge (****). Stating this, have also tried to call with no answers. Now my truck is sitting at the shop waiting for payment for the pick up or our vehicle. I have been dealing with this since Feb 10, 2022 when I first notify the warranty ***** ***** ** ******** **. I have tried to resolve this issue for months and now I am need of help to resolved this and move forward. We have talked with several lawyers about suing this company for the engine and the emotional stress it has caused. I was also informed by the owner **** that he fired **** (not sure on full reasons).

I am rejecting this response because:

In regards to *****'s reply to the BBB email on July 8 22 she seemed confused as to what I needed .even though I have talked to her every 3 days since June 6 says the same thing every time . a truck is on the way to pick up the old engine and they will refund my. 850.00 core charge .today July 18 and engine is still here. When I got home last Friday and the engine was still I had have enough .I called our attorney general's office the consumer protection dept. Told them what is going on and said to give BBB time to run it's course and if it does not get resolved to come down there ,which I will. I will also call our channel 13 news station and see if they want to air a buyer beware  segment on this .they cover most of Iowa ,so that's a lot of potential customers watching.  At this point,if they don't want this old engine ,I can take to the junk yard and drop it off and they said they won't charge me.In the mean while refund my 850.00  like our agreement was

I purchased a remanufactured engine for a 2012 Range Rover on 9th of December 2021 through Sharper Edge. They promised delivery by the 10th of January 2022 in which a reputable repair shop was employed to do the installation - the expected date of the work to begin on January 10th. I hadn't heard any update nor was given tracking numbers etc so I followed up with Sharper Edge and they seemed to be unaware of my order but promised to get an engine delivered as soon as possible. The engine arrived 3+ weeks later - mid February - causing a delay with the installation, (as the mechanic shop is popular for its work on foreign/luxury cars). The engine was finally installed a few weeks later and was being tested by the shop. It seemed to run fine, with no strange sounds, leaks or problems noticed. Satisfied, the mechanic then took the vehicle for a test drive and at that point experienced a loud knocking from the engine. He immediately returned to the shop to investigate and found no visible signs of trouble. He notified Sharper Edge and they promised to have an engine inspector visit the shop to do an assessment. It took another few weeks to have an inspector come out, (after I called and followed up numerous times). He witnessed the engine start up and appear fine and then went for a test ride with the mechanic at which point the knocking noise returned and then the engine seized. The inspector reported that the engine appeared to be installed correctly and a tear-down of the engine was needed to get a full picture of the cause and extent of the damage. Sharper Edge looked at the report and came to the conclusion that it was the mechanic's fault and that he cause it to overheat. All stipulations were followed by the mechanic, (including about $3500 of new parts, incl water pump, etc), there were no telltale signs of overheating, (head gasket failure, loss of coolant, etc). Sharper Edge relied upon sketchy heat tabs and faulty analysis of report.

As it is Clear in the Photos that they provided you can clearly see that the Heat Tabs are Blistered because the Engine was overheated.  Elite has been in Business in the same Location for almost 50 Years and that's why we partner with them.  They Build and Ship approximately 20-25 Remanufactured Engines Weekly.  With these engines it takes a lot to install and to make sure that the cooling system is bled properly (Typically with a Scanner).  These vehicles are also well known for there overheating problems and we advised him that most of our customers purchase new fuel injectors and all new cooling components for a extra $1250.00 and he declined that.  The warranty is also void if those components aren't replaced and we haven't seen any documentation that those were changed.  All of the engines are tested after the rebuild process and then shipped to the customer.  **** from Elite has talked to the ****** and ***** and ***** even told **** that "Well it came from the Auction I should've known better".
