I had my vehicle towed to ***** where I was told that three of the catalytic convertors are clogged, needed to be replaced and that it would cost me $6000. I told ***** I was not able to afford that price. They informed me that I could call any Exhaust repair shop and have them replaced for cheaper. On 10-7-2021 I called S&S Custom Exhaust Repair to ask how much it would cost to replace all three of my catalytic converters. I received a call back on 10-8-2021 and was quoted $1577 to replace two of the catalytic convertors, plus tax. I was also quoted $60 to remove the third catalytic convertor and place a straight pipe where the middle convertor would normally be. I agreed to have the work performed and subsequently had my vehicle towed to S&S Custom Exhaust Repair. On October 11, 2021 I was told that my vehicle was ready but that I would need to also have my brake pads, rotors and calipers replaced and was quoted $700. I could not afford that price so I declined to have the work performed. Once I went to pick up my vehicle, the brake pedal went all the way down to the floorboard, which was not the case when it broke down. I was driving it when it broke down and that was not the case. Since it was not drivable, I had no choice but to opt to have the brakes done at that time. Ultimately, I paid about $2400 to have my vehicle fixed by S&S Custom Exhaust. Within two days, my vehicle began to smoke and broke down several times, the same as before. I called them and explained what was going on and they asked me to bring the vehicle back so they could take a look. I had it towed back there where they looked at it and was told they are not sure what is wrong with my vehicle but they could give me a price on a new engine. Unbeknownst to me, removing the middle catalytic convertor is against regulation. Before I brought my vehicle there I only needed to replace the catalytic convertors. After leaving there, I suddenly need a new engine? I think they messed up my engine.

we will require evidence and written explanation on how, its possible for the install on new catalytic converters on your vehicle could possible result in the engine failing,

the nissan quest in question was brought to our shop to have the converters replaced, like the customer stated the vehicle was previously looked at by ***** transmission we did no diagnostic on the quest, the car was pushed into the shop because there was no brake pedal the converter install was completed the customer was then notified of the brake problem and advised not to drive the car because it was unsafe to do so. the customer knew there was a brake problem the brakes had been grinding for some time and the right rear brake caliper, hyper extended causing a loss of brake fluid that would cause the pedal to no have any pressure, all of this was explained.

I am rejecting this response because:

      Regards,

      ***** ***********

Before bringing my vehicle to S&S, the only thing that needed to be repaired were the brakes and catalytic converters. Within days of getting those repairs done by S&S, my vehicle began smoking. After they did something against regulation and illegal by cutting out the middle converter and replacing it with a pipe. After having my vehicle towed back there again, they refused to even investigate the reason why my vehicle will not work. I feel they are refusing to investigate or give me the reason because they are at fault. Upon having my vehicle towed back to ***** they stated that it is definitely something S&S did or did not do that caused it to begin smoking but in order to find the cause, I would have to pay them thousands of dollars which I don't have. Once again I am requesting that S&S fix my vehicle or refund the money I paid them for the repair.
