Had a brand new roof put on the house cost me $20,000 for a $10,000 job they guaranteed me the roof would not leak. The roof is still leaking 30 days later tried to get them to come out and fix it. They sent one guy and he says he cant do it. The job is too big for one person, I have had a very hard time getting in contact with Beaver Roofing. I did not want them to do the roof but I did not have a choice we filed with our insurance. They didnt want to cover it. We had an inspector inspect it. He sued our insurance company and made them give up the ****** for the roof , thats what they got paid and Im still sitting here with a leaking roof and the ceiling is involved in it too now weve had nothing but trouble we cant contact anybody at Beaver Roofing. All we get is leave a message I dont know what else to do.

We are aware there is an issue at this home. Once we were made aware, we immediately sent our repair assessment technician out and he did state to the homeowner that the job would be too big for him by himself to do so we are assigning a crew to do this job and we also have to get a material drop, so everything is in motion. We did attempt to reach the homeowner yesterday afternoon at around 1 PM and left message as we didnt make contact but this is a high *************** for us and we will get this resolved as quickly as possible.

In May 2023 Beaver Home Services replaced our roof. The roof has been leaking over the course of 6 months after being replaced and is getting significantly worse. Our insurance paid them over $30,000 to replace our roof. They now claim its the chimney that is leaking and they refuse to fix the chimney. The chimney is completely rotted and they claim it is not there fault. However, we never had leaks prior to them replacing everything. I had another roofing company come out to look at the damage and Kayco said they should always replace the chimney cap and siding as well when redoing a roof. Beaver has claimed to warranty there work, however, they never did the work correctly and in doing so they have caused significant damage to our ceiling & carpet inside the home. They claim they cannot do it because they do not have a general contractors license to touch the chimney and that it is not there responsibility. They never informed us of any damage or rot around the chimney when they replaced our roof. Therefore, this has to be an issue caused by them after installing. We are asking for a refund in the amount of $5,000 to replace the damage caused by them since they are unable to finish the job that they warranty.

I have reviewed the Drydens message and complaint and would like to continue to express our commitment to honoring our workmanship and material warranty. From the moment we understood there was an issue we responded and came out to assess the issue. The issue in the chimney was not part of the estimate awarded by the state umpire/ public adjuster. I understand there was another roofing contractor that said this should have been included but I don’t believe they were aware of all the details that was part of the scope of loss provided to us. The roof was originally denied by insurance and a public adjuster, attorney and umpire were all part of getting this roof approved. At time of our inspection and their inspection there was no leaking in the chimney area where it is currently leaking and there was no designated scope of work to repair or replace any areas around the chimney or chimney cap other than reflashing around the chimney which is standard on every roof we do.
We responded to initial call on 12/19 and came out and immediately assesed the issue and then performed water tests on 12/28 to confirm where the leak is which is in the top of the chimney. We attempted to repair it with caulking and advised the homeowner that we would need to rebuild the chimney to guarantee the complete mitigation of the leak and quoted a price and the Drydens were not willing to move forward stating that we were responsible for the leak.
I have attached the approved scope of loss from the claim/settlement which clearly states our scope of work to be performed and I have also attached the clay county certificate of completion showing the roof passed all inspections.

We will be glad to rebuild the chimney for quoted price but we are not responsible for the interior damages caused by this and will not be paying the amount the Drydens are demanding.

     Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
when I spoke with beaver home services they stated they would not repair the chimney for us because they did not have a general contractors license . A quote was never given to us to fix the chimney. I asked what would the cost be to fix it and they said they could not do it. We have no proof of a quote being sent to us at anytime and neither do they. We have also asked several times for a copy of our contract and have never received that either. Also, if beaver sent us a quote, it would be in the attachments, it is not.

    Business Response

I have spoken to ******* ******* our inside production manager in regards to *** ****** stating that we could not do the work to the chimney and no quote being provided- When *** ****** called in ******* was at first confused with another chimney project that was requiring the chimney to be removed completely and at first told *** ****** we would have to have a General Contractor to get involved to take care of the removal and then after ******* realizing he was confused he acknowledged his mistake and let *** ****** know that we could rebuild the chimney but she never inquired about a price quote to do so, stating that they were not responsible for any payment for the work needed to be done and that Beaver Home Services were responsible for the chimney repairs and the interior damages as well. We will be glad to rebuild and repair the rotted chimney for a cost of $2000.00.
We truly want to help the Drydens through this situation but as stated in my previous response the chimney was not included on any scope of work we were to follow nor was it requested to be addressed by the Drydens prior to Beaver Home Services installing the new roof. The Chimney has siding around it and we had no way of knowing there was any issue with wood rot. We reflashed as we were supposed to and the roof passed all county inspection per the certificate of completion uploaded on my last response.

As far as the contract is concerned it was originally emailed to [email protected] on 5/11/2022 via DocuSign after the contract was signed and the insurance claim was filed. I have attached it to this response as well.

Beaver Home Services is one of the worst companies that I have ever dealt with. It took them about two years to follow-up on my initial roofing complaint issues. I still have roofing and screening issues that were not properly fixed. I have filed roofing complaint issues to BBB before. The quality of roof workmanship is poor. They came a second time this year and still did not fix my roof properly, and covered up issues that should have been fixed or replaced. I have pictures of the poor work they did. They put a lien on my home and reported this to the credit agency for it to affect my credit. The BBB really needs to get someone to investigate this company. The mediation between me and this company is muted.

We went out to his house multiple times, and fixed all issues that he was saying there was. The issues were over exaggerated and overstated by *** ****.

All issues have been corrected. The homeowner is just not wanting to pay his balance and we reported it to the proper agencies to try to collect the money that is owed. Which is now prompted him to file more BBB complaints.

We have done an outstanding job to service our homeowners needs, and this roof has passed all city inspections and is completed. This complaint is not warranted in this. Homeowner should definitely pay his balance so we can all move along.

    Thanks!

I am rejecting this response because: this company did a lousy job trying to repair the roof and other items that they attempted to correct. The work was very poor quality and they tried to hide it.  I have pictures to show what I am displeased about. You can see it clearly if you do a site visit.  This company did not come out here multiple times. I only recalled them coming out once to attempt to fix their mess. They never came back out to address my issues.  I know what quality work is and it is very disappointing.

    **** *******,

When we were first notified of there being anything wrong at ** ******** home we immediately responded and completed the repairs. We then spent 4 months trying to get ahold of him and he would not return calls or answer the door when I personally stopped by. The roof has passed all city/county inspections. We will continue to warranty our work as we do for every homeowner we perform work for. ** ******* has not let us know if any new issues.

And lastly these phantom repairs needed have only come up since we’ve had to turn ** ******** account over to collections for the $9,000.00 balance he still owes to date. We will be glad to get this balance owed out of collections if ** ******* would contact us with payment arrangements.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 12/21/2023

The only time this company came back out was to try and correct the mess that was made after the initial roof installment, and it took them over a year for this. If someone from the company came by, they should have contacted me. I do have a job and work five days a week. If they came by, they should have left a note or something on my door. They claimed that the roof passed the city/county inspection, apparently the inspector did not do a thorough inspection.  This inspector don’t have to pay the bill, I do. I am not please with the roof job, the workmanship is unprofessional. A roof inspection cannot be done by sitting behind an office desk. I will keep this complaint open until the roof is properly repaired.

About 1 1/2 years ago I contracted with Beaver Home Services ("BHS") to replace the roof on my home. After reporting the offer made by FedNat, my insurance company, to BHS they suggested that I seek the help of a public adjuster to give me an independent valuation of the damages to my home. BHS went further by suggesting that I seek the help of Todd Romazko of Insurance Claim Experts Inc. After meeting Todd, I hired him to complete the valuation of damages sustained in my home. After being unsuccessful in getting FedNat to increase the amount, Todd then suggested that I hire ***** **** ** ***** ** ***** PA to file a lawsuit against ****** on my behalf. Attorney Heil later reported to me that he was able to secure a $30,000.00 Settlement from FedNat to repair the damages to my roof and master bathroom. It was then explained to me that a net amount of approximately $26,100 would be paid out in a check written out to both BHS as well as myself to repair the damages. Naturally, it then followed that BHS would receive the money that it would take to repair the roof, and I would receive the remaining balance to fix my bathroom. Thereafter, a lot of time passed and the insurance check had not been received. At the time, the damages to my home were so severe that my family had to move out for several months. Although I asked BHS, they would not fix the roof until the full value for the roof replacement had been received. As a result, my family decided to pay BHS $13,000 out of pocket on November 22, 2022, to have our roof replaced. On December 2, 22, BHS received a check from Attorney Heil's office in the amount of $26,100. As of today, BHS is in possession of $39,100.00 associated with my case. The $13,000.00 paid for the roof out of pocket has yet to be reimbursed and BHS does not want to give me any money for the repairs made to my master bathroom although it was a substantial variant considered when determining the amount of money FedNat paid to settle my case.

The facts of this matter are as followed. We have spoken to **** ***** on several occasions trying to work out the details on the settlement as she settled the claim for far less than the original estimate proposed by ** **** ******** The original estimate amount was $37,105.56 and that total included **** ***** deductible. The claim was settled for $30,000 then deductions of the following amounts- **** ***** has received a prior payment for $2,869.25 from her insurance company, $1,000 deductible. Beaver Home Services received a settlement check for $26,140.75 and then cut a check to the Public adjuster for  $5,228.13 which **** ***** is aware of and under contract with the Public Adjuster and was obligated to pay out of the settlement. This leaves a total of $20,912.62 for the roof and interior repairs. The total cost of the roof install was $17,050.00 leaving an amount of $3,862.02 payable to **** ***** along with the $13,000 she gave as a prepayment to go ahead and get her roof put on due to her circumstances. We have tried to explain this to **** ***** and she has been unaccepting of this. The total that **** ***** will actually receive for her interior repairs actually exceeds the original estimate amount $3,862.02(BHS Check)+$2,859.25(prior payment from her insurance company)+$1,000(deductible she has not had to pay) = $7,721.21. The amount listed on her estimate is actually $6,856.62 breakdown- which is $6,494.20 for mold and interior, $138.94 window screens, $223.48 window labor.
we are sending 2 checks via certified mail today in the amounts of $13,000 for reimbursement of out of pocket expense for roof install deposit and another check for $3,862.02. We are kindly asking **** ***** to take this complaint down once she receives these checks as we have fulfilled our obligations and done everything we can to satisfy the homeowner. Attaching estimate and settlement letter.

I am rejecting this response because: once the checks are received I will not deposit them as satisfaction of this claim. In addition to the checks, I’d like a copy of the executed settlement agreement with my insurance company so as to ensure the actual settlement amount. I’d also like a copy of the valuation completed by the public adjuster to see how much was projected for the master bathroom repairs. Finally, I want breakdown of why I was told that I could not pay a deposit on the roof and instead told that I needed to pay full value of the roof in order to get started. I was told that baring any major structural issues that the $13k would be sufficient. I’ve also received several quotes from other companies suggesting that the cost for my roof should range between 12k and 15k. I am not sure why Beaver is now suggesting my roof cost $20k it makes no sense.

in the interim I have reached out to an attorney who is in the process of drafting a demand letter to BHS. I plan to file a lawsuit if the above listed demands are not met.

in response to ***** ***** response- I clearly articulated the settlement amounts and the breakdown of costs in my previous response. I did upload the settlement release ($26,140.75) from her insurance company that supports the amounts listed and i have also uploaded the invoice from the Public Adjuster that we paid from the settlement check which was $5,228.13. the total for roof and interior left over is $20,912.62. ***** ***** received an initial check for $2,869.25 from her insurance company that is not included in any of these totals and I have also attached proof that we overnighted her a check in the amount of $13,000 which was her deposit for the roof to be installed on her needed timeline and we also included in the same overnight package an interior check for $3,862.02 the total cost for Beaver Home Services to install her new roof was $17,050.00. she has received all money due to her and we will be glad to present any further documents to her attorney and if she will kindly pass her attorneys info along we will communicate directly with them to ensure that all facts are presented. We are one hundred percent certain that we have done everything to help ***** ***** get her roof on as quickly as possible and to get this resolved.

I contracted with Beaver Home Services on April 25, 2022, for a roof replacement. . I signed over a $4,200.00 insurance check to them in the spring and they have still not provided a date to commence work. It is now November 9, 2022, and they have not commenced any work, delivered any materials, or scheduled any date to start work. In October I sent them a termination notice in accordance with the terms of the contract – they haven’t started work and it's been over 30 days since execution so per the contract, I am entitled to a full return of my deposit - and demanded a return of the four thousand dollars plus I’d given them. So far they have refused to return the deposit and have gone silent. I want my deposit returned immediately or I will take legal action.

We got approved for 32 thousands dollars for the roof through the insurance company we have and we agreed with this roofing company to do the job and the crew they sent was very unpleasant and unprofessional even the city inspector made them REDO the job after first or mid job inspection and they even tried to collect more money from us under the threat that we wont get our warranty paperwork and now my living room is leaking again and we talked to the company and they even sent an agent to see but no one ever got back with us What do I need to do

Unfortunately, this install was performed by a sub-contractor that due to their work we are now in litigation, Beaver Home Services has in fact taken on the responsibility of warranting all work that was performed by Alton Roofing.  I was unaware that their was a leak and will send a repair crew to the homeowner for repair and inspection of the leaking area.

I hired this company back in April to replace my roof that was destroyed from a tornado. I reported that I had a leak and was told that tarp would be put up. To date it has not been. When I received a check from the insurance company they were up my butt to get the check and then nothing! I have made several attempts to get this resolved. First it was no return phone calls then returned phone call with no solution. The material was delivered 2 weeks ago and sits on my roof and driveway. It had been a rainy season and what else is getting ruined. I spoke with ******** who guaranteed me things would be taken care of and still nothing. Enough is enough. I have been fair and waiting almost 4 months and now since I can’t resolve this on my own I would appreciate you helping me resolve this problem. I thank you! *****

There is a tarp placed on the roof of this property.  The install for this property is on schedule for Thursday, August 4th. We did contact the h/o to discuss the issues that we had regarding the permitting, which caused a delay in the process.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/22/2022

Beaver Home Services did encounter permitting issues in the county of Marion and I personally spoke with Ms. ******* to inform her of the permitting problems.  At that time she indicated that she had told her representative that the roof needed tarped.  This conversation took place on 7/25 and I could not get a crew to her home until 7/29, which the crew did in-fact install a tarp. Ms. ******* also sent a text message on 7/28 indicating that she was going to contact the BBB.  On 8/1 ******** ******* (sales assistant) called to confirm receipt of materials, dumpster delivery and install date of 8/4/22. She left Ms. ******* a voicemail.

It is unfortunate that we had permitting problems with the county of Marion which did prolong the waiting of installation, however, I tried to communicate effectively with Ms. ******* who was typically too upset to hear me out.

As of today, Ms. *******'s home has passed final inspection and the roof is completed.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this business, please let the business know that you contacted BBB for a BBB Business Profile.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
