Took my dog to get surgery for kidney stones, also paid up front for her to get sterilized, she died less than 24 hours later my family is devastated my other dog doesn't wanna eat isn't as playful, they didn't even keep her overnight to be watched after a surgery !! No caring words when we went in to speak with them to figure out what happened, when she died I called them they told me to go to a different pet hospital to check, we are left with a 1300 credit care bill and 200$ for my sterilized pet who is gone. Since no one cared to listen when we went in I left a ****** review THEY TOOK IT DOWN there are more reviews of passing pets too, they absolutely do not care.

WARNING!!!! LONG POST AHEAD!!!! I am NEVER one to complain but after what happened to our fur baby, I felt like I needed to share our experience so that others can never have it happen to them. Gambit was scheduled to get neutered on October 13th (at a spay and neuter facility) but if you know Gambit, then you know he's a naughty little guy who gets into everything! He got into a box of tissues the Thursday before (October 7th) he was set for his neutering. By Sunday evening (October 10th) he was super lethargic, was vomiting after drinking water and was no longer eating. Monday morning (October 11th), my husband and I decided to take him into his vet, Mayfair Pet Hospital to get looked at and make sure if this was something he could pass on his own. He ended up getting X-rays and bloodwork that showed he had a foreign object that was going to need to be surgically removed. Matthew and I were overheard by the vet tech that he was going to need to be rescheduled for his neutering when he had jumped in and said that it would be 100% safe for Gambit to also be neutered at the same time as this exploratory surgery. He reassured us that it wouldn't affect the recovery at all. Gambit got surgery that same day, Monday (October 11th) in the afternoon. Because it was done so late in the day, and he was dehydrated- he had to stay over night with an IV to give him fluids (we then found out later that Mayfair completely messed up his front leg and the vein there was blown). I picked him up Tuesday (October 12th) at 5:30pm. I stayed home with him ALL DAY Wednesday (October 13th). Please note Gambit was supervised the entire time from when we picked him up on the 12th, he was wearing his e-collar, was still heavily sedated from what he was given at Mayfair and my husband and I took turns staying awake just to watch him (so by no means did Gambit do anything to over exert or bother the incision sites. By Thursday morning (October 14th), Matthew called me as soon as I got into work and said I needed to rush home and take him to Mayfair because he was leaking from the exploratory site and that the area looked terrible, like as if it was infected. I rushed him back to Mayfair because I'm under the assumption that they know what is best because they are indeed a Vet Hospital. They informed me that he needed to go back under anesthesia, which we had to pay for (money isn't the issues here.. it's the fact that we had to pay for them to fix something they screwed up) and the reasoning was just "it happens". You cannot look at how his incision site looked at tell me that "it happens" and "not to be worried"... I picked him up the same day (Thursday October 14th in the evening at 6pm). I asked if they were certain he wouldn't need any more pain medication or something stronger because you could tell he was in pain. Mayfair's response was "no he SHOULD be fine...no need to worry". Matthew stayed with him on Friday ALL DAY (October 15th). By Saturday morning (October 16th) Gambit was now bleeding from the SAME AREA. And he was incredibly swollen (it didn't look like he was ever neutered) I rushed him to Mayfair yet again because at this point I'm LIVID and I want some answers. I got there at 11:15, left him in the car because he was bleeding and I thought it would be best for a vet tech to come get him. Mayfair was aware he was BLEEDING and didn't send someone out for him until 11:45. I raised hell! And again they did not care, nor were apologetic. They told me that he could be allergic to sutures. My response was "if it was suspected that he was allergic to sutures, then why did you guys use the again on Thursday and why wasn't I informed?" The Mayfair vet tech's response was "well we don't know until they use them again". I told the girl that's the stupidest logic and that I don't give consent for sutures again. I told them to staples the bleeding area and we will come back in for the check up like we had to a week from the initial surgery and they could remove them then. They bring him back out 10 minutes later and say that he's "good as new" I again asked about the swelling and they say "just try a warm compress" (what dog do you know will sit still for something like that??). Please keep in mind that the actual Veterinarian NEVER talked to me again after the initial time she went over the surgery and the costs on the 11th. Even with all the concerns that I told ALL the staff about. By Sunday morning (October 17th), Matthew comes back in from letting Gambit go to the bathroom and said "something's wrong, he's bleeding again". Gambit was now bleeding from his neutering site!! He was COMPLETELY SWOLLEN. At this point I told Matthew I refuse to let anyone at Mayfair even look at him again. So we drove an hour away to a different Vet Hospital, they triaged him right away since he was bleeding and that's what any vet should do! The vet hears all he's been through and is in disbelief. They lay Gambit on the side and blood just starts coming right out. We were told he was now at risk for a staph infection (they said that from the pictures on Saturday he should have been admitted for it right then and there) and that he'll have to go under one more time for a clean out, to check to make sure there's no free fluid around his intestines and to now place a drain right before his scrotum to help with all the fluid that was building up over the past week that Mayfair either didn't catch or just ignored. They prescribed him actual pain killers (because the ones he was given from Mayfair were NOT doing it for him). We requested them to take over the entire recovery process with Gambit. Since all of this occurred, I went to Mayfair and requested all of Gambit and Kova's medical records and officially removed them as patients at Mayfair. We are so happy that Gambit is still here with us. This whole ordeal has been so scary. Mr.Man has been so strong and still so sweet with us even after all the trauma he's had to go through. 🥺🥺 It took a lot to come forward because like I said, I'm never one to complain...I just thought it was only right to share our experience at Mayfair Pet Hospital (their negligence, lack of sympathy/concern, and ill-mannered staff) so that no one else has to go through this. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!! DON'T BRING YOUR PETS THERE!!
