We left our 1973 VWBus towards the end of October 2023 for a full paint job and needed rust removal. I was told by ***** the owner it would be done in 3-4 weeks. Fast forward to the end of May 2024, we received a call that the bus was finished. I had visited the bus on a few occasions to check on the progress, and wasnt very happy to find the bus sitting outside with no windows in it and very basic plastic covers over the windows which had become untapped due to heavy winds and rain, it had water damage to the finished wood work in the interior. They also broke the antenna and one mirror, which I purchased to help expedite the completion of the bus. When I saw the bus finished my wife and I were very disappointed with the quality of the finished work. Rust bubbles were still showing through the paint, there were areas that never got sufficient paint, and there was areas that never saw paint because of weatherstripping. The quote was for $3900.00 + 390 for the glass removal and replace once the bus was painted. The final invoice was for $4700+ $500 for the glass.,I was told by ***** after voicing my concerns about the poor quality paint and body work thats he is not a restoration shop, just paint and body shop, I told him that I fully understand, because a full restoration wouldve been triple the cost, but that we deserved to at least receive a paint job worth the money he was charging. He ended up taking off the $200 for the antenna and mirrors which I paid for, and he had no intention at first to cover it, he also deducted the $390 for the windows because he didnt know that I knew what the guy had charged. I wanted to pay him with my business check, but he refused to accept either check or credit card payment and was told if I gave him a hard time paying him the total in cash only, he was going to refuse giving us the bus and put I mechanic lein on it., I paid the bill and told him that you dont trust us, but I trusted you, and you didnt come close.
