I had a service call for my pool heater. I called manufacturer the day before to open a claim and checked the warranty- they confirmed it is under warranty and opened the case and they gave me info for the local company that works with them. The warranty covers parts and I need to cover labor according to them. I call this local company to schedule it, the lady in the office said the service call is $175 and if tech has parts in his truck he can fix most of the items same time. The parts are covered by the warranty. The tech arrived ( He didn't introduce himself, I took a pic of his truck so we can find him if needed). He replaced the parts outside and came inside to tell that my bill is $485 with 175 service call and 2 new parts installed and warranty doesn't cover anything and I need to pay NOW immediately. I asked to him to double check because there is an open case already with the warranty. I showed him the number that we called and rep name *****. He refused and he said I can call myself anyone I want, but he need his payment now or he will remove the parts now. He ran and removed the parts, throwing around his electical tools and screws with an anger. I was scared and went back home, since I didnt feel comfortable around him. I asked again to please call his office when he came back to get the payment for the service call. I gave him my card. This time my husband at work was already on a line with Tropical (the heater company with warranty) to figure out the issue. They confirmed it again over the phone and they called me to confirm and his office. He got a call from his office that it is covered! So he readjusted the numbers to pay and there were 2 $99 charges added to the previous bill after he took off the price for parts. I ask why is that, but he was very rude and mean (I can get video on my cameras). It became very stressful for me, so I just paid and went crying inside that I had to go to the doctor to get a treatment for the anxiety.
