I booked a four point inspection for my Auburndale duplex with Lakeland Home Inspection Services on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. They sent a pre-inspection agreement on Wednesday. As I was going through it, I was bothered by the requirement to check a box agreeing to receive either a home insurance quote or a home security quote, neither of which I wanted. So I did not complete the form and called that day (Wednesday) to cancel my inspection. No one answered so I left a voicemail with my name, address of duplex and the request to cancel the Friday, October 8 appointment at noon. I booked with a different company for the same time on Friday when my property manager would meet them since I live out of town. The booking company called this morning saying the inspector would be 30 minutes late. I informed my manager. An inspector showed up at the original time (noon) but did not tell my manager which company he was with and began the inspection. Then the correct inspector showed up 30 minutes later as I had been told. That company called to tell me another inspector was onsite. I called Lakeland Home Inspection to find out what was going on. They said they had not gotten my voicemail. I did a photoshot of the call I made to them on Wednesday that was 44 seconds long informing about the cancellation. Received an email from the company showing it was cancelled at 12:30 today and then another email charging me $75 for the inspector completing half of the job. Before either email, a person in their company called and left a message so I called back. His tone was angry saying he'd have to pay the inspector now, I calmly told him the fact that I had left a voicemail on their phone Wednesday canceling the appointment and had not completed the paperwork, so no contract had been signed. My husband also called after we received the emails (I was too shaken up) and calmly explained why we would not pay the $75. I received a text saying this a short while ago: " Just a heads up I'm sending your invoice to a collections agency. On Monday." It came from this number which is not the Lakeland Home Inspection Services number:
