On 12/7/21 Chris W. from DK Farm & Nursery came out and we reviewed the job together I had multiple things needed to be done. moving, relaying installing new pavers in my back yard, build up side yard with top soil and relaying pavers, trim a hedge, remove 2 over grown Muhly grasses and replace with new 2 Muhly grasses, install a 60' Rubbermaid boarder along beds, remove some yard waste and cut a palm frond that was hitting. Est cost $565.64 The next day Chris arrived we went over what the plan was for the boarder and pavers. Right off the bat I knew something was amiss as Chris brought no tools to do the job and used my shovel, sledge hammer, yard clippers, etc., We came to a stand still as Chris told me he would not remove the dirt that was needed in order to allow the pavers to be recessed into the ground by the board of the patio and was unable to cut any pavers, many pavers are not level, so they rock. He and was totally unprofessional, bring a non DK employee on to my property to work so I paid him just so he would leave the property, as I was concerned as to my liability to the non DK person working at my home. I called Chris to complain that he didn't complete the rest of the job that we had agreed on, he told me that it wasn't in the estimate, but I reminded him nor were other things that he did, we had a verbal. The next day I spoke with David K. the owner the next day, who basically told me that he didn't believe me. Chris had done all other labor not on estimate as a favor i.e., boarder install and install of grasses. I told him that I didn't want Chris back out as he doesn't know what he is doing and I didn't want to have to deal with his lack of knowledge or work ethic again, I would be happy to settled the bill at a reduced payment of $250.00 but he refused telling me that I was bound to the signed estimate and had 10 days to pay or he would press legal action. I hired another company to complete work. See side by side comparison

      Business response

      04/18/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2022/01/14) */ Business response taken verbally by BBB: We performed the work per the contract. The pavers were not part of the contract. Upon completion she paid us in full and gave tips to the workers. 2 days after the work was finished she wanted us to do the pavers for free, but it is not a service we provide or was part of the contract. She then cancelled the check. We advised her this was illegal and we would pursue this in court if we do not get paid within 10 days. She sent us another check to pay for the job. At this time this is closed on our end as job was completed per the contract and we have been paid in full. Consumer Response /* (3000, 9, 2022/01/14) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Please see attached copy of part of estimate sent to my email via Chris W. phone. On the estimate under section titled "Labor" it list install of boarder, an though miss-spelled with an o instead of an e, pavers. Also I never gave any of the workers a tip, as once I realized one of the men, named Corey, wasn't even an employee of DK Landscaping, I wanted the whole crew off of my property as I was concerned as to what my liability might be if he were to be injured on my property. As for calling and requesting free work, that is a total fabrication on Mr. K. part. I called Mr. K. to request an adjustment to the fee as Chris W. did complete the work that we discussed for the agreed payment and that the work that was attempted was not of a level of professionalism expected from a professional landscaping business. There were a number of additional things that Chris and I verbally agreed upon that didn't make it on to the receipt i.e. cutting of a palm frond. Also please see 2nd attachment, though small of entire estimate sent to my email from Chris W.
