On Thursday Jan. 26th my wife & I went to get our taxes done at LibertyTax in Leesburg, FL. They put all our tax information into the computer and we were told the amount we needed to pay the IRS. They informed us it was time to electronically sign. there was a small electronic signature pad on the accountant desk and he asked for our signature multiple times. His monitor was faced away from us. We were under the impression they were all tax related, because he never stated otherwise. The next day I got a email from LibertyTax with copies of the forms that they had us sign. These forms were an agreement to disclose my wife and my personal information to third party franchises and calling centers; which they never made mention of while we were singing them the day before. We felt deceived by LibertyTax. They did not ask for our approval of consent to that. On Monday Jan. 30th, I went back to complain about it. I was told, that they would send the complaint to there corporate office and haven't heard back since. ,Business response

We have been in contact with Mr. ****** and have informed him that, as requested, we, Liberty Tax – Leesburg, have removed the consent to use of tax information forms from his file. Therefore, Mr. ****** will not receive any future texts.
We have sought and await Liberty Tax Service Corp explanation as to the cause of Mr. ****** receiving repetitive texts and confirmation that no other client will have a similar experience. It should be noted that we at the franchisee level do not have any control over the distribution of texts as Liberty Corporate retains ownership of all customer lists and control of all text distribution.
Again, we apologize for any and all inconvenience Mr. ****** has incurred. Should Mr. ****** favor our office to do his 2023 year’s taxes we will do same at no cost to him.
We will forward the feedback from Liberty Corporate to Mr. ****** upon receipt.
