I hired Kris Appliances Repair to fix a problem I had with my stackable washer/dryer. My dryer stopped working. I paid $70 by check. The next day I put a load into my washer and it was not working properly. I called them and they came back out a day or two later. I paid $71 this time and was told the washer needed a part and it would take several days for it to come in. When it did come in, he came back out and couldn't completely fix the washer after many attempts. My son told him he needed to reimburse me for the $141 I had paid. He went to his truck and came back with a check for $140. He had mentioned during this visit that I needed a k*** I asked him when he was returning to put the k*** on, he told me I was buying the k*** I asked him where I was getting a k*** from, he said Amazon. I paid $42 and some change and I'm waiting for the k*** to be delivered. I did not notice that the check was not signed by him. I held on to the check for several days before trying to cash it. Once I tried cashing it via my phone, I kept getting the message that an endorsement was needed. I had signed the back of the check and didn't know what was wrong until after my 3rd attempt to submit pictures of the check. He had not signed the front of the check. I called him and he told me he would be back the next day between 3-6. When he had not arrived at six I called and he didn't answer the phone so I left a message. I called 3 days later and he still is not answering my calls. I would like him to come here and sign the check so I can cash it. Or reimburse me the $141 he cashed from checks I had written to him.Business response

After we received a request to fix ***************************** dryer machine, we diagnose the issue, an estimate was given and we came back to install a dryer machine door switch. Technician tested the machine in front of customer and everything was tested good, after couple of days we received a call from this customer saying that washing machine was no working and saying it was the technician fault, we ordered a new timer which it was more than $226 and took couple of days to get it since is being discontinued. When technician came back took couple of pictures about the timer because we noticed that it was clearly damaged and it was looking different than the picture we took at the first visit, anyways we didnt asked for money and installed the timer for free, when we were testing the machine we also notice that plastic k*** it was missing a metal clip, this is caused by pulling in and out incorrectly the k*** by customer. We also offered to order another k*** and came back but ***************************** woke up her son which it was threatening my technician with a bad attitude and requesting the whole amount charged at the first visit for the dryer which it was working great and he didnt allowed the technician to take the new timer installed back. Im order to be able to get out of the house, technician gave them a check which it was not signed because he is not authorized. We clearly are not going to send another technician to that house because its not safe, we repleaced the timer for free and on top of they wanted to get 100% refunded, they still wanted us to pay for the plastic k*** Im so sorry but we decided to open a case with local police department office in order to keep our technician safe. We have pictures and probes about parts and about how the timer looked before and after. There are other ways to do business and we have a good reputation which we take care of, but we have to protect our techniciansCustomer response

I am rejecting this response because: My washer was working the day before the technician came to fix the dryer. My son had washed a load and hung the clothes around the apartment to dry since the dryer was not working.. The repairman came after several days (more like 5/6) put the part in and didn't put the washer back the way it was before he broke it. After several attempts he finally said the washer needed a k*** The k*** worked fine the day before he broke it. I asked my son to come to see and hear what the repairman was telling me I needed to do. The repairman used plyers to turn the washer k*** and my son try using plyers to turn the k*** also. He could, but he told the repairman he needed to return the $141 I had paid to have the dryer repaired. The repairmen went out to his truck and came back with a check. I didn't notice that the check didn't have his signature on it. I've been trying to get him to come by and sign the check so I could cash it. He won't return my calls and ignores my messages left on his phone. My washer was not broken until he took the panel off the machine to repair the dryer. He broke my washer. I've paid $42 and some change to replace the k*** he broke. I am out $141 plus the $42 and change I had to pay for the k*** Where do I go from here? Why did he give me a check without an endorsement?
Sincerely,

When our 2-year old Whirlpool washing machine began vibrating/shaking severely in spin cycles, I read of stabilizing rods, etc., and after reviewing ratings of local repair contractors in Thumbtack, Yelp, etc., apparently not thoroughly enough, called Kris Appliances Repair on June 25. "Kris" (Christian Csr *****************?) came out on June 27, and charged us $250 (parts, labor, tax) to install the new Whirlpool suspension kit he'd brought with him, not quite following procedure I'd seen on YouTube. The excessive vibration stopped for c. 2 weeks, then resumed. July 31, having just returned from a week's travel, I emailed Kris, told him of his work's failure, and asked that he come back and finish the job. Kris did not reply. August 8, having had no reply from Kris, I called (got and left message on answering machine) and emailed again, asking that he reply asap. Again, no reply. My takeaways: Kris doesn't do a proper job and, once he has your money, he's done with you.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2022/08/30) */ This response was taken verbally by the BBB: The consumer was advised when we came out that there is only 2 things that could cause this issue. We advised we would start with the suspension and if that did not work then we would need to replace the other part. Consumer agreed to repair and at this time we have offered to come back out and repair, the consumer will need to pay for the part but we will not charged the consumer labor.
