On January 25, 2022 Captain Comfort replaced the air conditioning system for the main part of my house. When the other two AC systems for my house were replaced in December of 2022 by a different contractor, I discovered that no permit exists for the replacement done by Captain Comfort. This was discovered when the City of Apopka building inspector came to inspect the two December installations. I have tried repeatedly via phone calls, texts and email to get Captain Comfort to remedy this but nothing has happened. I have been leaving texts, phone messages and emails for months that remain unanswered.Business response

This contract was executed per the agreement and all products and services contracted were provided. Further the customer was very demanding and we jump through hoops constantly to provide service as requested. We revisited the job many times at the request of the customer to assure the install was done to code and per manufacture specifications as well. We feel that no services are owed per the contract and wish to not do business or provide service to this customer moving forward.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: Although Captain Comfort insists all contracted services were provided, a permit was required for the work they provided and none was requested or issued. When I was made aware by the Apopka building inspector that none was issued I reached out to Captain Comfort who eventually responded on December 5, 2022: "Hey ****I will check into your permit situation this week and follow up with you. Apologies I had some time scheduled for vacation and just getting back." That was the last I heard from him.Yes, I may have been demanding but I paid $8000.00 for a new AC installation and wanted it installed properly. They jumped through NO hoops to satisfy me. They came out once to bring me the AC filter that they neglected to supply when installing the unit and a second time months later as per agreement to verity that the condensate line was draining properly since the air handler was installed at an angle that allowed for questionable drainage.
They had no problem coming out to repair one of my other ac units on August 4, 2022 but only decided to "stop doing business" with me when I repeatedly requested that they do what they should have done at the start - pull a permit!
Lastly, I think you should know that I was made aware that the permit had not been pulled only when an inspector came out to close the permit on the two other ac units I had replaced by another contractor. The inspector actually assumed that the inspection was for Captain Comfort's installation since his installation looked like it had just been installed. As long as he was there he did a complementary inspection to make sure it was installed safely which it was. I am not thrilled with the installation done by Captain Comfort, especially when compared to the installation and follow through done by the other company but I am satisfied that it is working well and safely installed. I only ask that the paper work be completed so that I have no issues when I see my house.

Permit application has been sent to the city of Apopka. per an oral agreement between myself and Mr. Okrent when the permit amount is established by the city he will pay it and then we will execute an inspection. This should resolve this matter.
