We are filing this complaint so others know what were dealing with regarding Gracewood/*******************. We believe we were overcharged by Gracewood/******************* by $2,292.89. We agreed to work totaling $3,715.00. When the job was complete, we were presented with a bill for $6,102.89. When we spoke with ******************* on the phone, he told us his workers found other areas of wood rot and took care of them. We tried to tell him that we never agreed to additional work, just what was on the original proposal, totaling approximately $3,715. He ranted about his crew did the work and he wont be cheated out of his money. When we tried again to tell him we never authorized the work he said that because my wife was in the hospital (2 of the 5 days his crew was at the house) he didnt want to bother me at the hospital. I explained that he and I had texted those two days about their progress and other thingsNOT extra work, nor extra cost. I also explained we were home the other three days and no one asked us about paying for additional work. Once again he stated he wouldnt be cheated out of his money, to either pay the full amount or h*** see us in court. He then hung up on us.We believe Gracewood/******************* had made no attempt to seek our approval for the additional $2,292.89 for work that the crew thought would be nice to do.We can assure you that if we had been consulted about anything besides what was on the original proposal, we would NOT have approved it. The $3,715 was near the *** of our budget. Almost $2,300 additional would have caused us to reconsider the work and/or speak with other companies. We were never given the opportunity to approve or reject the supposed extra work.We even sent a registered letter trying to resolve this, but have been ignored.In summary, Gracewood/******************* supposedly did extra work that was never authorized by us. When we questioned it, we felt threatened, pressured, and bullied into paying the full amount for fear of being sued.
