After replacing my roof three times after 22 leaks in my ceiling after damaging the pavers around the house after cracking of my pool pump after hitting the pipe on the side of the house, after leaving the site with the water squirting in the air and flooding my yard for over eight hours before I got home after using materials which would have voided the poly glass warranty confirmed by poly glass after promises from ********************* that he would repair all of the damage After ***** the owner now, not returning my calls or emails So unfortunate because we are so close to finishing Whats left they need to repair the pavers around the house which they promised and text and messages that they would lay down tarps around the house as not to damage the new pavers. Unfortunately this did not happen the so they need to fix that.I paid for a new pool pump as casing was cracked and could not be fixed. They need to pay for that.I need the money for the pipe They broke on the side of the house and then left it to run without telling me or anybody what had happened.the three things that we have left if they would just do these items we would be done with it Cost for water running for eight hours needs to be paid for I do have to say they did repaint the ceiling after all the water leaks He did replace the roof tiles and underlayment several times due to their faulty installation When the biggest problems I found with this company, they did not have an on-site supervisor to watch over the contractors, which did not speak English. That one thing wouldve avoided all of this damage and problems stress My wife and I run a business out of our house the stress that this caused all the noise extra noise that did not need to happen really damaged us. Lets get this finished only three things left.

Our Senior Project Manager met with ************ on February 7, 2024 at his property to discuss the roofing project we conducted. During their meeting, ************ shared his perspective on the entire reroofing process, emphasizing concerns with the underlayment and tar initially used on his roof. These materials posed issues as they did not meet the requirements for the desired warranty from the manufacturer. At HD Roofing, we are committed to customer satisfaction and so proactively replaced all the affected materials at no additional cost to ************, effectively resolving the issue. Unfortunately, water intrusion occurred during the process, resulting in leaks and damage to the interior of the home. We promptly addressed this, repairing all leaks, ensuring the roofs integrity, and fixing any damages caused by the leaks. Special accommodations were made to alleviate any discomfort experienced by ************ during this period. Additionally, damage to the existing gutters was observed during construction, and we took the initiative to replace all the gutters surrounding the house. Stains on the driveway, as per our contract, were a potential side effect of construction. Despite this, we arranged for a professional pressure washing service to address the stains. Upon discussing the current status of Mr. ***** roof, it was confirmed that it met all building requirements and had successfully passed all required inspections as of October of 2023. To ensure mutual understanding, we reviewed the signed copy of the terms and conditions with ************. Subsequently, ************ expressed certain demands, including cleaning his driveway and providing a credit of $1500, along with covering the costs of his personally hired engineer for peace of mind. In response, we offered to re-pressure wash the driveway through another company and extended a credit of $1000 as a gesture of goodwill. This offer was contingent upon the completion of the final payment, considering that all identified issues had been rectified. Regrettably, ************ insisted on not paying more than $15,000 while the outstanding balance remains at $23,005.57. Despite our efforts to reach a reasonable resolution, ************ requested our Senior Project Managers departure from his property, utilizing profanity and expressing intentions to pursue legal action.

Section 1 of Signed Terms and Conditions-  1. HD Roofing & Construction, LLC (Roofer) shall guarantee the installation of roofing materials including, but not limited to decking, tile, ridge vents, and flashing to be in accordance with manufacturers specifications and completely watertight for a period of seven (7) years, unless specified differently. ROOFER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES relating to Roofers work hereunder. A manufacturers warranty may be furnished to Customer, if applicable. It is expressly agreed that in the event of alleged defects in materials furnished under this contract, Customers sole remedy shall be against the manufacturer of such material in accordance with such warranty.

The photos submitted by the homeowner show in our records as the before and during process of the repair project.  In response, we offered to re-pressure wash the driveway through another company and extended a credit of $1000 as a gesture of goodwill. This offer was contingent upon the completion of the final payment, considering that all identified issues had been rectified. ************ insisted on not paying more than $15,000 while the outstanding balance remains at $23,005.57.  Our attempts and conversations with ************ are well documented, as we take note of, and record, every conversation, as well as take before, during, and after photos of the repair process.

I am rejecting this response because:

before Hd Roofing and solar started re-roofing my house. I spoke with and texted ****************** also texted **** the on-site manager several times as well And finally, I spoke with ***** let them know that I just paid $16,000 to re-Finish The pavers, and that they needed to lay down tarps and plywood, which they all agreed to do the tarps and plywood was right in my front yard. For some reason. Once the site supervisor wasnt there, the contractors did not speak. English would not use the pavers or the plywood.

When this all started happening, ********************* promised me that they would They would pay to repair the pavers also ******** and site supervisors promised that they would pay to have the pavers fixed to the original condition

I sent them the estimate with no response. They asked me to send them the estimate so I did it Again, with no response

Heres what Im willing to do I will eat the cost of the new pool pump, which they crack the casing even though if they would of laid the  tarp over it, the damage would not have happened

i Will pay for the damage to the pipe of the side of the house, which was left running for eight hours, and the cost of the water

I will pay for the engineer I had to pay to come to the house and show them how to do their job correctly to code? And what they were doing wrong over several thousand dollars$$

I will pay for the insulation which got wet and needs to be reinstalled
but I will not pay for repair to the pavers all Im asking is for a reduction of the price of $5700 that is the lowest bid Ive got to completely repair the pavers

Hd Roofing offered to power wash the pavers, but stating that there was no way they were gonna be able to get all the stains and the scratches out?

Last, but not least ********************* of the company promised he would pay to repair The pavers !!

I would also like to say if ***** wouldve continued contact with me, this couldve been solved a lot earlier than For some unknown reason, he will not return my calls or emails or text. I even have his cell phone  And WhatsApp?
When I spoke with him, he was very understanding and I was understanding we did not fight or argue. I dont know why he will not keep speaking with me, but here it is lets get this finished 5700  off the final bill compared to all the thousands of dollars stress and three roofs We even found beer on the roof come on lets finish this

      Sincerely,

************** promised that he would send someone to clean the pavers, not repair them. Everything that was promised was delivered on our end. At this time, we will not be accepting the $5,700 credit offer. We are only able to accept the full payment.

I am rejecting this response because:
All they did was recopied their last response Or answer my last Rejection response through Better Business Bureau. Thats what they do.

Understand what you offered that is not acceptable I am making a concession I saying I will pay for all of the damage that you did pool Pump. To the to the broken pipe on the side of the house and they left the water running for eight Know flooding my yard I will pay for the engineer I had to bring in to show them how to complete my roof to code All Im asking for is the $5700 that will cost to redo the pavers as promised by ********************* the owner Youre only as good as your word

Again, I spoke to ******** **** the site supervisor, and ***** all guaranteed me that they would use The tarps and plywood that they brought to the site as not to damage the recently $16,000 paver job I had completed i have text from them several times saying that they will use the pavers. Unfortunately, they did not have a site supervisor on the job the whole time. case the contractors did not use the tarps or the plywood that was there damaging my pavers. This was the first thing that happened. I was promised by ********************* that he would pay to have the pavers repaired. Why do you keep sending me the same response you did last time it makes no sense evidently they dont want to solve this?

Oh Im asking for $5700 off that all the money that you damaged my house please lets get this done
      Sincerely,

Following the completion of roofing services by HD Roofing, I have encountered recurring issues, including cracks and dips in my ceiling. Despite numerous attempts to address these concerns with the company, the initial response was a disavowal of responsibility for the observed damages. Following the posting of a negative review, HD Roofing responded by sending personnel to address the cracks, albeit temporarily. However, the underlying issues persist, as evidenced by the recurrence of cracks. Despite assurances from HD Roofing that remedial action would be taken, subsequent appointments for repairs have not been honored, resulting in multiple instances of missed workdays on my part. Regrettably, these repeated failures to fulfill commitments have necessitated the pursuit of legal recourse to ensure proper resolution. It is disappointing that such actions are deemed necessary after entrusting HD Roofing with significant financial investment. Moreover, the potential consequences, such as the imposition of a lien, if payment were withheld, stand in ***** contrast to the company's apparent reluctance to address the shortcomings in their service delivery. This experience raises serious concerns regarding HD Roofing's commitment to customer satisfaction and accountability in rectifying deficiencies in their workmanship.

Upon further review, we were able to inquire that our company has diligently addressed the concerns that were raised. Specifically, we have previously attended to repair cracks in the ceiling that you had attributed to our construction activities. Unfortunately, the issue persisted, prompting us to return for further repairs.

Regrettably, you declined our proposed appointment and requested services outside of our standard operating hours, including weekends or after 5pm on weekdays.
We communicated our commitment to resolving the matter and expressed our willingness to schedule repairs within our standard operating hours. I am rejecting this response because: No I did not decline anything. I made one appointment and no one showed up, supposedly no one knew that the business was closed. The second time I made another appointment no call no show again. Both times I took off of work and missed out on two days of pay. When I followed up with ******* and told her that no one showed up the last time. I told her that she needed to make an appointment for after I was off of work so that I was missing out on work. ******* never followed back up with me to let me know about a time. So if she told you that I declined then she or yall are lying to cover yalls track. Clearly if the issue is coming back there is a deeper issue that was due to the services yall provided! So can we take accountability or are we going to keep lying and saying I declined services that I have been following up about for the longest of time.

My homeowners insurance called me about a claim on my roof that HD roofing and construction sent in. I did not sign a claim form with them nor had they been to my residence in order to file a claim. The form sent to my insurance had my name forged onto it. I now have a claim on my insurance resulting in my insurance going sky high and I can no longer afford it. It is now hard to get reasonable rate from any insurance company due to this forged claim they sent to my homeowners insurance. The phone number is wrong and also email.

      Business response

We received a work authorization on 12-17-22 (just over a year ago) with this homeowners information. After, the homeowner called our office on 12-21-22 regarding her concerns and we reached out to the subcontractor who submitted this file. He said the homeowner was a relative but to put everything on hold until they could clear things up.  There was never confirmation of a claim being opened for this property sent to our company.  We stopped any further action with this file the day we received the call from the homeowner and since we did not hear back from either the subcontractor, homeowner or insurance company regarding this matter, we marked this file as dead in our system.

The subcontractor who submitted the paperwork to our office is no longer active or associated with our company. The fact that a claim was filed without this homeowners consent is highly irregular and concerning. We do not condone such actions and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

Lastly, insurance companies typically record all calls and keep detailed records of communication for their policies. I would suggest for the homeowner to reach out to their insurance carrier and request any communication regarding the situation for more clarity on the matter.

This company is a nightmare to work with. During demolition of our old barrel tile roof, they used hammers to break the original tile loose (which is normal), but managed to put their hammers through the lead flashing multiple times in several areas around the house. That flashing had to be replaced (including fresh stucco and paint) before the reinstall could begin. During reinstall, two areas had to be completely redone three times! Every day there was something they did that was professionally embarrassing for them, whether that was due to lack of experience, attention to detail, sheer incompetence or even in some cases, a lack of employee integrity. After they finished our roof, we had new leaks that never existed before, and when they found those fixes, there was no way to identify which of the many crews made those mistakes. Today we continue to have issues with our “new roof”, but HD is unresponsive. We called, left messages, then sent certified mail months ago to no avail. The most recent issues that we’ve uncovered with our roof (by a reputable roofing company) reveal that HD covered a rotten section with peel and stick underlayment without replacing the plywood they were contracted to do. These areas are so rotten, you can put your finger through them, and you can also see where their hammers went though the plywood during demolition! They knew about it, but tried to cover it up. We are now in the process of methodically uncovering an overabundance of negligent conduct; my hope is that we will not need reroof the entire home. Now, most of the original folks that worked for HD seem to have left the company. We truly had no intention of complaining publicly because it’s exhausting to go through this. But now that we’re uncovering yet another section of mistakes that they likely knew about, I decided it was finally time to warn anyone who is considering HD Roofing for their roofing needs. Don’t be fooled by the 4.8 stars!

We would like to express our appreciation for the opportunity to address the complaint that has been brought against our company by *************************. We hold the concerns of our valued customers in the highest regard and are unwavering in our commitment to dealing with any issues in a thorough and professional manner.
Upon careful examination of the complaint, we would like to express our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience or frustration **************** may have experienced in his interactions with our company. Our goal is to ensure the satisfaction of each and every customer, and we deeply regret that we were unable to meet ****************** expectations on this occasion.
To provide some context, we have investigated the matter thoroughly and would like to offer the following response:

On June 1st, 2020, one of our team members visited ****************** residence to assess an active roof leak. Prior to the rain, a roof inspection was conducted and numerous instances of wind lift affecting the tile roof from top to bottom were observed. **************** shared an engineers report, stating that the issues were due to poor construction, not hurricane damage. **************** had initiated a hurricane claim but was denied by the insurance company. Our team member consulted with a legal team for two days to determine the best course of action. On June 4th, 2020, **************** then agreed to have us repair his tile roof and gutters. The continuous rain at the time prevented our team from completing a full roof inspection, however sufficient photos were captured to initiate the process. While the roof installation was completed in June of 2020, there were regrettably unforeseen delays in the gutter installation. It is imperative to note that our team remained in contact with **************** throughout the process. Our team diligently pursued the procurement of the materials to ensure the successful completion of ****************** repair.

On October 18th, 2023, **************** contacted us to provide details of his experience with the roof replacement that our company completed over a year ago. He highlighted several issues that he believes occurred during the project by our crew. Our Senior Project Manager reached out to ****************, who conveyed his dissatisfaction and mentioned that he had made several previous attempts to get in touch with our company without receiving any response. When asked about the last time he had tried to reach us, he couldnt specify a date. Furthermore, he could not recall the name of the person he had last spoken to or attempted to speak to within our company. **************** informed us that he has contracted another roofing company to perform repairs on his roof. He asserted that we used the wrong nails on his home, which has led to three roof leaks. However, he could not provide details regarding when these leaks began. We requested photographic evidence of the damages he believes were caused by our work, and **************** declined to provide any. He stressed that his primary objective is to have a new roof installed.

We understand the importance of clear and accurate communication, and are taking immediate steps to prevent similar issues from occurring in the future. To address this matter, we have implemented the following policies and procedures:
      1. Enhanced Communication Protocols: We are currently revising our communication protocols to ensure that all customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback are promptly addressed by our dedicated team. 2. Training and Development: Our team members are currently undergoing comprehensive training to improve their communication skills, active listening, and empathy toward customer concerns. We will continue to conduct regular training and refresher courses to consistently improve their abilities to exceed customer expectations.
At ******************** & **********************, we value the feedback provided by our customers, as it helps us identify areas for improvement and enhance our overall service. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience this matter may have caused, and thank you for bringing it to our attention. We look forward to the opportunity to rectify the situation and regain ******************** trust in our products and services.

      Complaint: 20747054

I am rejecting this response because:

To their claim about construction defects, I never once got on my roof to see what they are talking about; my superintendent's opinion may have been that there were construction defects, but he has since left the company for reasons unknown. I can tell you that if there were any [fixes] to said "construction defects", they made matters worse by using a multitude of improper materials within a coastal zone. As to having shared an engineer's report about issues of poor construction: I have never had in my possession of any such report, nor have I ever hired anyone to do so.  It is possible the insurance company (Citizen's) said this in a report, which was their opinion this was a construction issue (in an effort to dodge a payout), which is why we later sued them with **************, FACILITATED BY HD Roofing Co.  If these were construction defects, then how did the insurance company later decide to settle for hurricane damage?  This is why HD was hired in the first place.

HD's roof installation was completed on or about October 14, 2021 (invoice date), NOT June 2020.

On October 3, 2022, I tried to notify HD by phone. I called and left a message, and later that week attempted to call but their voicemail-box was full.  When I did not receive a response, I then went on their website to submit a form through their online portal later the following week.  I then sent a notification memorandum via certified mail on 15FEB23, followed by a regular mail notification on 7MAR23.  I also filed a complaint with the ***** They were investigated by the **** for months and the case was closed on June 30. I then focused my efforts in hiring a different roofing company to repair the area(s) in question.  And it was on 10/18 that I successfully notified HD, by phone, of what appears to be now a roofing failure due to numerous code violations they made (to include galvanized metal valleys, ridges, and nails in a coastal zone, forgetting to peal the plastic away from poly-glass, and improper techniques of running nails from drip-edge upward at a 45 and puncturing poly-glass from below, just to name a few). I am told that HD was moving from one location to another last year, while at the same time they had a lot of employee turnover, so this may explain the lack of response back then, however, if they were approached by the **** about my case this spring (2023), they certainly did not "hold my concerns to the highest regard" when they were being investigated.

I have attached the photos to this response that I sent to the personal cell phone of the Owner of HD roofing, on October 18th at 12:46PM, for which he verified receipt, showing the effects of roofing failure, the area his company missed completely, and the rusted 2-year-old nails (instead of copper, stainless, aluminum or monel in accordance with code).  I have tried to communicate with this company as best I know how, yet they continue to ignore, deflect, place blame on me or others for clear violations on their part, and not carry through with commitments.  The owner of HD was supposed to be here this morning between 10:30 and 11:30am to visually inspect the areas of concern but is "in surgery" an couldn't be here. He instead sent over an employee from *******, who has been with HD for three weeks, and I suspect he has little barrel tile experience.

      Sincerely,

      To whom this may concern,

We apologize for the mix up in dates. Our records show that the roof installation was completed in August of 2021, the inspection took place in late September of 2021, and the COC from the county was uploaded to file on October 1st, 2021. Our records do show that the file was invoiced on October 14, 2021. We have attached a snapshot of the change for reference.

HD Roofing would like to note the following, as shown in our records:

Our Senior Project Manager met with Mr. ****** on October 23rd, 2023 to address his roofing issues. During this visit, our manager observed that *** ******* was actively working on Mr. ******’s roof, which in effect voids his warranty. Our Senior PM then approached Mr. ******* who stated that we did not properly flash his roof over the garage. However, upon inspection from our PM from the ground, the flashing appeared to be in good condition.

Mr. ****** also showed our Project Manager some old roofing materials, alleging they were from a previous repair by *** *******. He pointed out rust on the nails used, and stated that they were incorrect. Our PM informed Mr. ****** that while stainless steel nails are recommended, they are not required by code. Mr. ****** mentioned a leak he has had since October of 2022 and informed our PM that he has attempted to contact our company to report it.  However no records of his attempts appear in our system. It is important to note that during this period, HD Roofing was in the process of relocating offices, although our main office contact remained consistent, and the address change was promptly updated to ensure we could receive all mail correspondences. Messages received at our front office are meticulously recorded in each client file for our reference. Our PM explained to Mr. ****** that if the nails had been submerged in water for an extended period, it could explain the rust he found, as they are corrosion-resistant but not immune to damage when exposed to water for too long. Our PM also asked if he could inspect the roof to confirm Mr. ******’s concerns, but Mr. ****** declined to grant access to anyone from HD Roofing.

To summarize, HD Roofing & Solar completed Mr. ******’s roof in 2021, passing all inspections per code on September 27th, 2021, assuring us of his satisfaction at the time, and submitting payment to HD. As recorded in our system, Mr. ****** reached out to us on October 18th, 2023 to inform us of a year-long leak, and we have no history of his attempts to contact us previous to October 18th, 2023. Mr. ****** has hired another company for repairs, voiding his warranty in the process. The material was installed and inspected per code.

We have attached the Permit Inspection History Report for reference, which show that the Roof Deck/Nailing inspection was completed and passed on June 11, 2021, the Roof Dry-in/Flashing inspection was completed and passed on June 14, 2021, and the Final Roof inspection was completed and passed on September 27th, 2021.

      Sincerely,
      HD Roofing & Solar

      Complaint: 20747054

I am rejecting this response because:

      Code violations:

      - Choosing to use galvanized nails in a HVHZ, and making matters worse by intermixing regular non galvanized nails with the intended ones is a hazardous recipe for failure.  Regular, non-galvanized nails, should not have been allowed on site if their intention was to use galvanized!  Regardless, ** code says the following: 1523.6.5.2.11.1
Tile fasteners used in coastal building zones, as defined in Chapter 16 (HighVelocity Hurricane Zones), shall be copper, monel, aluminum or stainless steel.
The use of galvanized fasteners is a grave mistake by HD; its a real shame they continue to claim theyre in code compliance.  HOW CAN A COMPANY SUCH AS THIS EVEN MAINTAIN THEIR LICENSE, LET ALONE ANY SORT OF POSITIVE ******************** RATING? Furthermore, the law could care less about an inspector who never got on our roof to see what was really going on. The contractor has ultimate liability for a roofing failure.

      - Securing the aluminum drip edge through the facia, the plywood sheeting, and penetrating the poly-glass surface from below at a 45 with galvanized nails is a disgraceful technique for two reasons: 1) electrolysis occurs between the aluminum drip edge and galvanized nails, and 2) the nails penetrate the water-tight membrane making the sheeting underneath vulnerable to water intrusion AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE HOME!  IS THIS IN ACCORDANCE WITH CODE?

      - On a small 80 sq ft section, there were numerous locations where the poly-glass peel and stick was left unpeeled, and did not provide a water-tight seal.  THIS IS A FAILURE, AND REPRESENTS CARELESSNESS, AND A LACK OF ATTENTION TO DETAL.  How many other places on our roof show evidence of this?

      - On this same 80 sq ft section, HD Roofing did not clear the old peel & stick down to the plywood, and chose to cover-up the old underlayment with poly-glass, on top of areas that were so rotten, that someone almost fell through my roof.  IS THIS TECHNIQUE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ** CODE?

      - Improper materials, evidence of improper or non-existent flashing, inconsistent techniques by multiple different crews and/or absent superintendents, the use of galvanized valley metal for flashing around the chimney, etc, are just a few egregious examples of how HD Roofing and Solar DID NOT COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN ACCORDANCE WITH ** CODE and continued denial of this fact is irresponsible and reckless.

      - I am asking that the BBB place HD Roofing and Solar on notice; until they become acquainted with ** building code and labor techniques, they SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED to practice roofing in the ***********. This project will likely place them in trouble with the law if they delay any further, and ultimately, the condemnation of our home as a result of widespread water intrusion and mold that can result in damages amounting to millions. Perhaps their insurance company should also be notified (including photos and physical evidence) about this roof failure and about what HD considers to be in accordance with ** Code.

      Sincerely,

      *********************

The attached photo shows how HD covered storm weathered/rotten plywood with an additional layer of Poly-glass, instead of stripping down to bare plywood. This is a very small section of our roof and likely occurred in other places.

      Complaint: 20747054

I am rejecting this response because:

This photo shows how HD failed to strip down to bare plywood to find storm weathered/rotten plywood.  Instead, they covered this area with Poly-glass peel & stick, and then left our roof worse off by using nails prone to severe corrosion. The nails do not appear to be corrosion resistant, as approximately 25-30% of their original volume has corroded away in the form of rust, leaving a void for water intrusion through an already rotten roof.

First and second week of July 2022, HD Roofing replaced our roof after we waited a year for their legal team to settle with our insurance company. Upon commencement of the work we blindly agreed to sign the settlement check over to HD Roofing. As of 16 October 2022 we still have not received any documentations, no invoice, no documentation regarding the roof warrantee, no documentation for the additional roof fans we purchased from HD Roofing. We have since made numerous attempts to settle our account. Our salesman stated we should be receiving a significant amount of money. HD Roofing has thus far stalled and avoided settling our account. We have spoken to several staff in the office who tried to state that we hade additional charges for wood and they are even trying to charge ** for repairs for damages their roofers caused. Next stop after this, ******* ****.

HD Roofing has yet to approach us directly to remedy this dispute. We still do not have any post-work warrantee documentation, we still do not have an invoice detailing the costs of this work.
