Hardy Roofing & Construction, LLC, installed a roof on my home. The work was supervised and performed by Billy Dukes, cousin of the company owner, ****** ***** *****, license #CCCXXXXXX. The drip edge was installed so that it slants back in toward the facia and water runs over the facia, causing the facia to deteriorate, instead of the drip edge diverting the water from the facia as it is supposed to, to protect it. The defective installation and resulting water flow over the facia is rotting the facia, which was replaced, painted and caulked just weeks before the roof was installed. The problem/defect was brought to the roofer's attention and the roofer told us in September last year that they would correct it in October by installing 1x2 in the areas where the drip edge was slanting back in towards the facia. I have this in writing from the roofer. He then cited health issues for why he didn't do it in October, even sending us a photo of him in a hospital bed with his shoulder in bandages. He then said again in January that he would be able to take care of it in 2-4 weeks. When the roofer again didn't do what he said he would, we followed up in the last few weeks. He told us then that he is not going to correct it and has offered now to do an estimate for what they would charge to correct it.Business response

Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2022/08/10) */ Business owner responded by calling Complainant on July 20 and Business owner then came to work site to meet with Complainant. Business owner indicated willingness to correct defects in work. Complainant and Business owner are in process of working out a resolution. Consumer Response /* (2000, 18, 2022/08/26) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business and wishes to inform the business of this) The business owner called on August 24, 2022, to confirm the details about resolving the drip edge issue. The business owner has agreed to add an additional metal strip, painted black and inserted under the present drip edge. Business owner has indicated will resolve the issue of the water flowing directly over the facia. He has let me know that the additional metal strip would be attached with metal rivets and that water will not penetrate the rivet holes. It is my preference not to paint the existing black drip edge if that can be avoided. Business owner further indicated that he would address the areas already affected by the water flow with paint and caulk and take care of the flashing issue over the area where the carport joins the house. He said he would send a letter soon to confirm what we discussed. I understand from our conversation that he will take care of addressing the drip edge issue, the kick out flashing and other details we discussed, during the second week of November, 2022, and that he is shooting for Monday, November 7th, but it may be Wednesday, the 9th. I'll provide the white paint for the business owner to apply to the affected areas. He said he would also take care of a pipe boot for me while he is there even though he did not create that problem and estimated the cost to do that would be about $60.
