April 10, 2023 Wyatt ****, an employee of Roto-Rooter of Panama City/Lynn Haven, came to my residence to clean out my pipes. First thing he did was to rip out my sewer cap to my main drain, breaking it up with the large pole bar he used. He said he would get another one to replace it. Two days later I called in to explain my missing sewer drain cap. Someone from Roto-Rooter came out when I was not home and put a drain cap in. However, it was sticking up above my driveway a good 1/2 inch and in harms way of any vehicle pulling into my driveway. I called in to Roto-Rooter to explain my concern, but they said there was nothing they could do. Melissa said she would have Wyatt call me to explain my problem, but I never heard back from Roto-Rotter. I called another plumbing company and they located a brass cap that is much thinner than the plastic cap Roto-Rooter had installed. It is flush with my driveway. The charge for this service was $215.00. I feel like Roto-Rooter should have fixed the problem, instead of leaving it up to me. Thank you for any help you can provide in helping me to rectify this situation.Business response

On 04/04/2023, Mr. ******* called us for a slow drain. We could not get the cleanout cap off to run the line because it had appeared to be ran over and was broken onto the line. We did have to completely break it off to get the line ran and informed the customer that we would return at no charge to replace that cap. On 04/17/23, we returned to replace the cap and did not charge for the cap. That day Mr. ******* called our office our office and said the cap was still not right. We replaced the cap with the EXACT same cap he had prior and he was not billed. Unfortunately, I was not aware that he called another company when he was no pleased because I would have gladly come back out until it was right. As for the charges, the first charge of $250 was to clear the main line. We cleared his stoppage and will not be refunding the money. The second change we credited and never charged Mr. *******.
I have attached the original invoice and credit memo from April to prove what we have honestly done.

I called to ask if they could come out and just see if my septic tank needed to be emptied or if it was a clogged drain that was causing the issue. The female that answered the phone said they would come out and go ahead and send the pump truck as well just in case the septic tank needed to be pumped. They came out and stuck the shovel in the ground a total of about 3 times and told me my tank was collapsed and I needed a new tank put in and that was it. I asked one of the men (Dustin) how much it would be for that days charge and he told me "we were here for an hour and a half so it will be $250.00". I asked him how much it would be to get a new septic tank put in and he told me the owner will call and let me know. That was Wednesday June 22, 2022, I still to this day have never been contacted from this company. On Friday June 24, 2022 I got a charge from Roto Rooter for $450.00. I called the company and told them I never authorized my card to be charged $450. I was told it was going to cost $250. All the female would say is I'm sorry. The guys that came out that day literally did not nothing and I got charged as if they pumped my tank. All I'm asking for is either the $200 they over charged me back or that they come and fix the problem. I have tried to dispute the charge with the bank but because they never gave me anything in writing I can't get any of my money back and I still do not have my plumbing fixed.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/14) */ Ms ******** called in on 6/21 for a pump out which was quoted at $450 because she was having backing up issues in her house and had not had a pump out in a few years. I then explained to her that it would be the next day before we could get to her. She was understanding and was great with that. Melissa ** on 06/22 Pump driver was given the service call for the pump out. Joey said that the service tech also needed to go out and see if they could get this issue resolved just because the location was further out and customer had been waiting a day. Tony Alex & Dustin were all onsite on 6/22/22 per Joey. Tank was found to be collapsed and could not be pumped. There was a $125 travel charge for the pump truck because the tank was not the issue for the backing up and a service call for the other Tech for $325 for running her main sewer line for 1.3 hours. Melissa W. **** ********* main response: If you call out for a pump truck and do NOT use it there is a fee because we have to pay the fuel and driver to got to the location and return to the shop. that fee is $125. Because Dustin did quote her $250 for the service side we will be willing to refund her $75 today, but unfortunately Ms. ******** must pay for the truck she called for which was a pump truck. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/07/14) */ I did not ask for the pump truck, I asked for someone to come out and see if the tank was full and was told they would send the pump truck just in case it did need to be pumped. I was never told it would cost $125 just to come out even if it didn't need to be used. I was told if it needed to be pumped it would cost $450. It was not pumped. They said the tank was collapsed but never dug to see if it actually was so I'm not sure how they came up with that conclusion. All Tony and the young boy did was stand around and talk about corn being in poop. I have no idea what you mean by running the main sewer line for 1.3 hours, they didn't run anything. They did not do anything, especially the 13 or 14 year old boy that was their with them which I am sure is not supposed to be riding around in the pump truck and being on the job site. I was never once called about any charges. I will not settle for $75 back when you charged me $200 more than what I was quoted. You did not give the service that was even quoted for the $250. Refund my $200 and I will be fine with that, you can keep the $250 for driving out there and leaving a empty gatorade bottle in my yard because that is the only thing your company did. I will be writing a letter to the corporate office also. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/07/14) */ Tech did not run mainline as I thought. When I spoke to him the charge was for rehanging the sewer line under the house. He was there 1.3 hours at a rate of $250/hr. Consumer Response /* (4200, 12, 2022/07/20) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) On 7/14/22 at 4:04 pm I called **** ****** Panama City and spoke to Jacqui. She said she had already refunded $75, but to put this to an end she would refund the other $125. the next morning when they opened, which would have been 7/15/22. I still have not received the $125, which would complete the refund of the over charge. Once I receive the $125. I will close my case but not until then.
