The company was shown the work that needed to be completed in October of 2021. One of the sons was on the job site and his brother was on video chat looking at the damage (never came to the house which was probably a mistake on his part). Between the two of them we agreed on a verbal price estimate for a roof repair and rotted porch wood replacement. A few days later they started tearing off the roof. Then the son on the video chat showed up to the site for the first time and tried to re-quote the job for approximately $10k more saying he didn't fully see ALL of the damage. (2 rotted porch beams about 500 dollars in materials plus 1 day labor by 2 people, completely visible btw). I disagreed with the re-quote of @$26K total (for a shingle roof with 1 board replaced on a 1265 sq foot home and porch wood replacement). I then showed him our written agreement. I was told "replace porch wood" does not mean to replace wood on the porch and that a separate "construction" quote was needed. (Ironically, no need for another quote was mentioned until they started ripping the roof off.) So they simply completed the work they wanted to complete and left. I told them I would not fully pay until they finish the work they agreed upon. They responded with "we will put a lien on your house". I was then asked to go to their office and went. I was spoken to in a very belligerent manner by the company owner in front of his sons and his employees. It was a very entertaining act of hubris that brought on laughter and excitement in their main office area. (He stated, "You can wipe your @ss with the agreement.") He apologized the next day and I paid him for the unfinished work and he said they could finish the job for $3K more. Since then I have been given no indication of when they will complete the work. All I have been getting is stalled via email.
