My husband and myself bought a 2021 chevy trailblazer 5/7/2021 from Burkins. We financed through gm financial. We advised the salesman ***** ***** **** that my husband has Dui's on his record and no drivers license since 2003. We asked directly if that would keep us from being able to purchase a vehicle and keep it registered and he said no. He advised because I am a licensed driver, we would have no issues. The dealership did the title work and we were given a metal plate within 30 days. In Dec of 2021 when I went to register it, the dmv/tax collector advised that they will withhold registration renewal due to the fees and fines on my husband's records. Until all of that was paid, we are ineligible for renewal. The clerk ultimately gave us a new metal plate and number because she felt sorry for us, but advised come renewal time this year, we will have the same issue. We would never have entered into a financing contract with Gm financial had we been aware that the dmv would not allow us to keep our vehicle registered with my husband's name on the vehicle. We never would have purchased this vehicle from Burkins if ******* had not used misleading practices to get us to enter into this contract. Mr Cain assured us he's been doing this for many years and does it every day. He said we had nothing to worry about concerning purchasing a vehicle with my husband as a secondary co-owner and him having a suspended license for Dui's. We took for granted he actually knew what he was talking about and wasn't trying to take advantage of us. By the time the renewal date came around I was well outside of the 30 day lemon law or any other recourse for resolution. The Dmv said we never should have been given a plate in the first place. I think the dealership may have hidden details to acquire our first tag without incident. Either way I'm stuck with a car note now and no way to register it with the dmv because I can't finance it without my husband since he is our sole income
