See Attachment I am filing this complaint against Pingston Electric, 131 Tomahawk Drive, Ste-1, Indian Harbour Beach, FL 32937 and their representative, Jeremy B******. Mr. B****** gave us an estimate to install 2 ceiling fans in our home. We had purchased the fans ourselves as requested. His estimate for this job was $1714.12. Mr. B****** charged us $89 for this estimate. He spent about 10 minutes in our house and the rest of his time was spent in his vehicle talking on the phone. l am 72 years old and unable to do this kind of work myself. This estimate was so high, it was obvious that they didn't want to be bothered with so small a job. l believe this company and this estmator are taking advantage of senior citizens. We have had one other fan installed for which we were charged $297.72 by *********************, a copy of which enclosed. On 1-18-22, we got another estimate for the two fans installation from ****************************************************************************************************4. Their estimate for the job was $696.35 (copy enclosed). l feel that Pinkston Electric and their representative are not dealing with the public in a fair and responsible manner. They demand such a high price for estimates that it is an unfair business practice. I hope that the BBB will intervene in this matter and have Pinkston Electric to refund the cost of the estimate. Unfortunately, we are not comparing Apples to Apples here. There is no way the other estimates can be for the same installations per Code. The price for the breakers alone to achieve Arc Fault Protection of the new circuitry is $366.12. Then add labor, the other materials, etc., and our price is good. I understand when people are shopping for the lowest price, they will get all kinds of quotes. Check the one's they received. I'd bet you that they are not quoted per the 2020 National Electrical Code. We will refund the Diagnostic Fee (we do not charge for estimates), and hope that this family can find relief from other contractor's. However, after they get the lowest priced installation, they are welcome to call us to make it per Code...
