Disclosure: I have left this review on other sites. This review is for both Viator (the booking company) and Dolphin Water Sport (the boat rental operation company).We booked a boating experience through with Dolphin Water Sport through Viator recently during our visit to Miami. Once we paid, we were shown a liability waiver that was not available for our review prior to booking the trip (though we knew some form of waiver would need to be signed). In short, the waiver stated that we were responsible for any damage to the boat which would be driven by a 3rd party not associated with Dolphin Water Sport (they book a captain that the customer pays for). No insurance was offered which frankly, we would have paid if it was. We decided we didnt want to take the risk so we immediately called Viator to try to cancel, letting them know that now we have reviewed the waiver, we werent comfortable moving forward. They told us we needed to contact Dolphin Water Sport. When we called Dolphin Water Sport, we were told that no refunds were given because the rental was less than 24 hours away and that we would need to address this through Viator. Besides, the woman told us, you shouldnt worry about the waiver. Its just like renting a car - as long as you dont damage anything youre ok.We did not take the time to explain to her that rental car companies offer insurance or are covered by the drivers policy. We called Viator again and explained the situation. They refused to help with the refund. All of this back and forth was within 10 minutes of booking the trip. I understand the need to have no refund policies in place to protect businesses. But not showing the liability statement until after the customer pays and not letting he/she cancel immediately after reviewing the statement is unreasonable. Especially given that it was highly unlikely we caused them to lose any money since we tried to cancel within minutes of the booking.
