Deceptive advertising on RCI. Very rude manager at Westgate Lakes resort in *******, **. They state on RCI they are pet friendly, but when you call its only for dogs or small horses??? Our small bird with clipped wings which resides in a small carry cage was unwelcome at this resort but has been welcome and no problem at any other pet friendly resort on RCI. The manager didn't care that their ad on RCI didn't specify 60 lb dogs or small horses as the only pets they'd accept and didn't care if we could not get our money back because they didn't specify these facts on their site. Avoid these people. If they are not specifying these details, you know there are others they are hiding. And, they clearly don't care if they ruin a family vacation and cost people points and exchange fees they cannot get back.Review from Brenda P

We have owned a Westgate property for many years and 3 yrs ago, we hired attorneys to help us get out of it. Westgate wont even respond. We are trying to purchase our forever home and cannot because of this. They lie about everything.Review from em m

Westgate has no customer service or customer appreciation. If you report a problem, and trust me, there will be many problems, you get a text message saying they are sorry and will report it to a manager. Big deal. They never fix the problem. There is no customer service recovery effort, no compensation for your lost time or inconvenience, and they, well, just flat out tell you lies. Having been an owner for years, I see a pattern of this , as we have stayed at different Westgate properties. Apparently, this is their policy and what they train the staff to do. We have not ever, in over 20 years, been satisfied or had a vacation there without numerous issues. Also, the fees keep increasing, yet their services are decreasing. It is not easy to get your usage due to their " availability", as they keep much of their inventory for rentals to non-owners in an effort to scam others into buying timeshares. We have been treated rudely, blatently lied to, harrassed, have had to deal with inadequately cleaned units upon arrival many times, stalked, ignored, pressured, and discriminated against. I booked through a 3rd party site for a family vacation. Im truly traumatized! I was forced to sit through a timeshare presentation that was supposed to be 90 minutes it lasted 3 hours and wouldve lasted longer if I didnt forcibly leave! Do not buy a timeshare with these scam artist! Very high pressured sales pitch . I feel sorry for the hard working people that were scammed ! STAY AWAY!Review from Robin M

We have owned at Westgate (************) for about 16 years. We own 2BR lockoff every other year usage on even years. This is the only good thing about our timeshare. When you first purchase a timeshare there's heavy, sometimes rude pressure from the sales people. They genuinely are taught to lie to get a sell. What we don't get that is promised is the nice, update unit that you purchase. They will only show you the best of the best but when it is time to book and travel, one does not get the best of the best. The booking process and accommodations is all a shady process. Our time share has been paid off. We would love to sell it, but it is not an easy feat. I am thankful that we didn't purchase something high price. We are still stuck paying maintenance fees (every other year thankfully) but not receiving what we are paying into which should be a clean, well maintained and updated resort. We are going to a resort soon called Harbour Beach Resort in *******. We stayed there many years ago and it was decent. We are being told from many consistent reviews that it is now a dump, and a motel style resort with bugs and dirty sheets. I am very concerned. The best feature we are told is the view and beachfront. It apparently is a 2 star. We tried early to get other resorts but it is always booked up or they want to charge $1000 up charge. They truly are crooks at Westgate. BBB close them down! The resorts we have stayed in over the 13 years have all needed updating. If I were to rate the resorts (and we have been to almost all of them) I would say they would get a 4 out of 10 on well maintained, updated accommodations, and amenities.Review from Olabambo A

was ******* by West-gate Town Center, and made to believe that i was going into a real estate investment by one of their so called agent. Unknown to me that it was all lies. I managed to make payments for over 30 months, until i realized that i was just being reaped off. I made attempt to go to Westgate Town Center in person with my wife to file the complaint, rather, they tried to lure us into signing and going into another contract to make us pay more. As a Westgate owner for over 25 years, I am finally done with these people. A recent stay at Vacation Villas was disgusting. The unit we were put in was not updated, had black mold in bathroom and jet tub, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, microwave handle falling off, bathroom cabinet door fell off, and a list of other things. When I called to complain, they were rude and uncaring. That same night, the telephone in the condo started ringing at 2am each night, as retaliation. I filed an email complaint with owner relations, along with sending them photos of the unit. Five days later, I received an email stating that they did an investigation of my complaint and were offering a $125 resort credit. I was furious and called several times, only to get the run around. No one at Westgate gives a **** anymore. All of the maintenance fees that we have paid over the years and this disgusting unit is how they repay us? NEVER MAKE A PURCHASE FROM WESTGATE! Booked four nights at the Westgate in Park City on 12/29. Received a confirmation number and a welcome email. Booked airfare from San Diego, rental car, dog sitter, house sitter. Imagine my surprise when I called to confirm my room reservation. It didn't exist. They had cancelled it, because after I booked it with my credit card, received the email confirmation from the Westgate and booked my airfare, there was an issue with my credit card. NO ONE INFORMED ME. This week is not completely booked. Airfare nonrefundable. 3 hours on their customer service hotline and still no resolution. Horrible customer service.Review from Victor J

I cannot give a lower score which is rely their worth. This company like many other timeshares are all based on smoke and mirrors.The sales people pull up fake printed documents to support their verbal coersions.Tgey will talk you into terrible financial burdens with absolutely no balance for your dollar or enjoyment. They rely on the deposit, the money taken and you walking away. There rooms are full of fish for them to shoot in a barrel. Stay away. I'm better off walking away and saving a bundle in the future which Westgate won't get their filthy hands in. .The truck is NEVER SIGN ANYTHING..Review from Bridget S

Westgate Resorts is miss leading people into their money ****. I purchased their travel club plan through a presentation in Gatlinburg. Their selling points were deeply discounted travel on resorts, cruise, flights. I put a large down payment and monthly payment are being paid with that be said I have called to book resort and booked a cruise only to find out that I can book straight through Carnival Cruise cheaper and stay at hotels cheaper than their discounted rates. To make things worse your bonus are useless. Think twice and go by your gut instinct sounds to good to be true DON’T BUY their sale pitch. I will not be paying yearly fees to renew.
