Hired ********************* to perform Deck Cleaning and Deck Staining. The agreed upon price is $1100 ($500 for Materials as a deposit + $600 for services (power wash + stain (2 coats) = $1100). ****** advised he would need $500 for (2, 5 gallon buckets of stain) from ********** to apply 2 coats of stain to our deck. Each 5 gallon bucket of stain is about $225 + tax. My *********** agreed as long as he provides receipts from ********** for the materials purchased; ****** agreed to that because we advised him we were scammed previously. The project commences and ****** brings only 1 bucket of stain to our home. (Video Camera Proof). Also we didnt know he only used just 1 Bucket of Stain until after we paid in full & after viewing camera footage. ******************** the deck on Monday, stained Tuesday. My husband and I assumed he applied 2 coats to the deck - 1 coat in the morning and 1 coat in the afternoon. After viewing the deck while wet it looked good. After viewing the deck while dried the applied stain looked botchy, stain missing in some areas; drip lines on patio - the paint/stain job ****** performed looked horrible. My husband immediately called ****** and he became defensive and irate; he eventually hung up the phone several times advising he completed the job in full. After viewing the camera footage he only applied 1 coat of stain, he applied the stain going against the grain of wood & never applied a 2nd coat. We also noticed he never applied the 2nd coat because he didnt have anymore product. The 2nd bucket of stain was never purchased & never brought to our home. I immediately asked ****** for receipts from ********** on the products he purchased & he advised he would email the receipts to me once home. Also he advised he would come out the next day to fix what is messed up. My *********** advised he needs to purchase the 2nd bucket of stain owed & apply a 2nd coat. ****** refused. SN: No receipts have been recvd, not even paid invoice receipt from ******.Customer response

So basically I received his approval for a 2nd coat to be applied to whole deck on Friday @ Noon. However he recently decided to go against the agreement again via text. He also has now blocked me from text and cell communications. I hired him from Thumbtack. ********* is aware of this as well.Initial Complaint

Josh accepted a large deposit, has done no work, wont respond and wont refund. I have been in contact with others who also had this happen with him.
