Massey Construction was to install a new roof on our home because of damage from hurrican ***. The hurricane was 21 months ago and Massey has yet to even pull a permit. This issue started in Nov. 2023 we gave Massey rep. a check for 20k with a signed contract with a completion date of March 2024. Signed by Massy rep. and my wife and myself. They have made no attempt to start, no phone calls no nothing. I called in Feb. 2024 to ask when they might start and received all very nasty answers from ***** (sales manager) and finally decided I was getting nowhere talking to him. Despite many attempts to reach Mr. ********************* we get no response. I'm at the point with Massey I don't want them to do the work they are not the kind of people I want to do business with after reading revues. I own my own business for over 50yrs. and know this is not the way to run a successful business. All I want is my money back and we both move on.

On March 9, 2023, we contracted with Massey Construction Group, Inc. to install a new roof on our house. The new roof was installed in July, 2023. On 1/15/24, part of the roof collapsed around the chimney. There was a major leak and there was damage to the drywall on the house. Massey Construction Group, Inc., was informed and they said that it wasnt their fault. Massey Construction Group, Inc. hired an engineer, and as far as we know, the engineer said that they had to fix the roof. Its been months and Massey does not return phone calls. They have to install tiles on the roof, replace drywall on the lanai and paint it. That is the resolution that were seeking.

The remaining punchlist was originally scheduled and agreed upon to be finished.  We had scheduled with our subcontractor thinking the work was complete. When receiving this BBB complaint we immediately took action and the work is complete.  We are sorry for any miscommunication on our end

In December of 2022 I entered a contract with Massey Construction Group to address Hurricane *** damage on my tile roof, necessitating the replacement of ridge and field tiles. Unfortunately, my insurance only covered repairs, not a complete roof replacement. After considerable communication, they commenced the repair in spring 2023. I paid half upfront in December and the rest upon completion, a decision I later regretted. The repair revealed gray blotches all over my roof, which I assumed were temporary and would come off in the rain, and paid the remaining balance. However, I later discovered that Massey failed to follow the contract's instruction to "match mortar as close to existing color as possible." Instead, they used plain, uncolored mortar and painted over it, resulting in a roof marred by conspicuous gray blotches, very visible from the street. It truly looks like an amateur job.Throughout spring, I encountered a revolving door of sales representatives and supervisors who promised to make it right (****, *******, ****, *****) but they all eventually stopped replying to my calls and texts. Occasionally, crews arrived, but they focused on tasks unrelated to the core issue. In September, materials were delivered, offering hope for a solution, yet they remain untouched to this day.In late November, I contacted Massey's sales manager, *****, who shockingly informed me that they don't color mortar, despite the contract's clear terms. His response amounted to an apology with a paltry $300 discount on a $6900 bill, utterly unacceptable and lacking accountability. Now, I must invest thousands with another company to get my roof looking the way it should.

As of today, January 10, ****, the necessary repairs to fix the repairs that were done improperly in the spring of 2023 have not been started.  We are now at approximately 7 weeks since Massey reached out to me to let me know that they were going to take care of the issue.

Massey Construction has made a concerted effort to fix the issues with ******* and at this time most of the repairs are done.  I'm still waiting for someone to come out and get the big pile of garbage off of *******, pick up the garbage and pallets from my driveway, and also repair my gutters that have been heavily scratched from all the ladders used over the past months.  I have been in discussion with *********************, their Production Manager, about this.

Once these final steps are done I will close out this complaint.

I am rejecting this response because:

Not everything is done, though we are close.  My gutters need to be repaired/replaced as they were heavily damaged with all the ladders on them.  ********************* said he would take care of this though I'm not sure where this is at.  Also, there is a big pallet full of bags of mortar on my driveway that needs to be removed.

Sorry, as I mentioned earlier, I have to reply to your response within 10 days per BBB rules and it has been 8 now.

We are so close to being done.  ************** (Gauts Gutters) was out early last week to replace the damaged gutters.  Unfortunately they missed a side.  I mentioned this to the owner (****) who apparently contacted you to get approval for the missing side and you said yes, go ahead.  He said he would be back this week to measure.  It's now almost Friday and I haven't seen him, nor has he replied to my text or voicemail.  I also called *********************** and told him about this yesterday.

If there is anything you can do to get **** out here and have him finish the last piece I would appreciate it.  I'm sure we're both anxious to have this behind us.

I do appreciate your recent diligence to get this rectified.

      Sincerely,

I signed my roofing contract on Dec. 20,2022 after hurricane ***. I included my gutters/soffit repair as well because they assured me that they could do it all and I thought it would be easier than having to deal with multiple companies. They completed the roof tear off on January 16, 2023. I was very patient throughout the roof replacement process because we were all dealing with the hurricane aftermath. The roof was finally complete with shingles installation on February 24, 2023. My final inspection wasnt completed until March 29, 2023 which was a very long time to wait. I tried to expedite the final inspection but my sales rep ***** said it could not be done. I was also told that I had to wait until the roofs final inspection passed before the soffit/gutters could be repaired so once that was done, I called them to see when they can finish these last minimal repairs. Its been weeks of me calling their production office every 2-3 days to see when this is going to be completed and they keep brushing me off saying they are expediting it. Then one night, a crew shows up unannounced and completes the gutter repair but leaves the soffit undone. I have officially lost all patience at this point. I call their production office AGAIN and ****** tells me someone would come by on 4/26/23 and no one shows so I have to call them yet again to see whats going on. ****** assured me that they would be coming on 4/27/23. A person named **** goes to the wrong address on 4/27/23 which happens to be my sisters house which was another very strange thing that happened. He was about to work on the wrong house!!! My sister then tells him that she thinks hes looking for me and he makes his way to my house. At this point ** very happy to see him because I think Ill finally get the soffit repaired. Then he tells me he doesnt have the soffit material thats on my house. How do you show up unprepared for a job?!!?? I cannot fathom that in all of these months, no one wrote down or ordered the materials needed to complete my soffit repair. **** tells me he will pick it up nearby and come back and he never comes back!!!! So now its April 28 and I call the production office again to know whats going on and apparently now their excuse is that they cant find my soffit!! I asked to speak to their boss because Im beyond upset. I spoke with someone named *** I think. He couldnt care less about the inconvenience Ive gone through. He couldnt give me an answer on when it will be fixed and actually said that I wasnt their only customer WOW! This company is beyond unprofessional and the most disorganized company Ive ever had to deal with. I want this resolved so I never have to deal with this company again.

I contracted with Massey Construction on April 12th, 2021 to replace my roof, soffit, gutters, and facia. The total cost was around 31K and I paid them 15,374 on April 12th, 2021. The replacement started in June and finished in July. The roof failed inspection twice and was not waterproof as noted by the inspector. I had water running down my walls when it rained and damage to my ceilings, my walls, my screens on the lanai were damaged, ground lighting as well as the exterior lights on my home. Massey Construction admitted to the damage, indicated verbally and in writing that they would pay to have the damage fixed. I also have my neighbors as witnesses as well as text messages and in writing that they would pay to fix my home. As of now, I have paid for the mold remediation which was over 5K, and have interior damage that is over 25K. I have had to move out of my house due to the damage as it was causing health issues for me and my pets. I am seeking for Massey to repay me for hiring the mold expert, the mold remediation, and all of the costs associated with fixing what they damaged inside and outside of my home. This has been going on for months and I can no longer stay quiet regarding the lack of quality, follow up and professionalism from Massey. They have destroyed my home and my health.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/11/22) */ We are very much aware of the complaint in hand as we made every attempt to return to the homeowners residence to address the alleged issues before it became a large problem. Upon trying to gain access to the property, we were refused clearance to the home by the homeowner on multiple occasions. The mold issue that the homeowner alleges were discussed with the mold remediation company directly by our job supervisor. The mold remediation company claims that there was NO MOLD and would attest to that under oath if needed. It is our understanding that the homeowner is simply trying to use a small incident that could have been rectified quickly and easily and turn it into a complete overhaul of the interiors of the home and pass the invoice on to us. We have attempted and will continue to attempt to work with the homeowner to rectify any remaining issues, but they refuse to allow us in and have already begun demo work with another company without allowing us to assess the entire alleged damage. The final invoice has yet to be paid by the homeowner. We would not wish to file a mechanics lien on the property if we do not have to therefore, we will continue to work out a resolution if the homeowner is willing.
