Rented a condo in July 2023 at Ormond Holiday Club in Ormond Beach FL for 7 days that is owned and managed by SurfCoast Realty. Property manger G threatened to have us removed from property if we did not pay by our third day. We are not used to paying final amount by check-in as demanded by her, since our credit card was on file and used for a $500 security deposit. She then tells us a credit card transaction fee of 4% would be applied. This information is no where to be listed in any contract (which we never received), paperwork or emails to us. After making preparations to obtain a cashiers check from bank to pay, we contacted SurfCoast and spoke to K about the situation. K advised we could pay by CC without being charged a transaction fee. So we did (Everything’s good at that point…you would think…). Fast forward to the end of August, and we’re realizing we haven’t received our $500 deposit check in the mail. I call SurfCoast and advise that we haven’t received check. I’m told one was sent but they will send another. Just received check minus…wait for it…CC transaction fee. I called to inquire about check deficiency and was told it’s the transaction fees that were originally waived. I spoke to M who advised it’s “federal law” to pay transaction fees and they cannot be waived. She tells me it was a mistake and she told K to contact us and tell us the same thing (never received a call from K). I asked to speak to B who I’m assuming is a supervisor/manager/owner. He tells me he does not believe K said she would waive transaction fees. If that’s the case, how did original amount minus fees charge to my CC. I pleaded with him to speak with K about the matter. I again pleaded with him to please call me back and he said he may if it was necessary and then hung up. Essentially, the management of the property where we rented has been a clown show and extremely deceitful with charges. Please be cautious of staying in any property that is managed by SurfCoast Realty.
