I have utilize the *** store here in ******* ******* at least three or four times in the past two months. Each time I have email documents to their store email as instructed by employees, I would then go in the store, and they would print them there for me. No questions asked. Its a print store. This morning I emailed a document to be copied and was shocked when I received a response regarding the document I asked to be copied. The person asked if this was the same document I sent them to copy last week, and I unnecessarily explained that it was not the same as it now had a signature. The response to this stated I see. You should be reminded that the purpose of a Notary Public's duties, among other things, is to ascertain the identity of a document's signatory, then observe that signature. Logically those witnesses would be present as well for signing.I do not understand why someone read my copy and then decided to give me legal advice. I did not know there was a notary at the *** store. I have my own and we are doing a virtual session with my dad in a nursing home and needed a copy for him to see and point to and acknowledge. When I went into the store, I asked who it was that emailed me, and it was **** who was helping someone. I was made to wait there and finally I asked if I could just have my copy because I do not have time to wait. I told the gentleman who was checking me out about my sincere concern for my privacy and stated I did not expect someone to be reading my copies. **** then looked up and stated you either trust us or you dont. I said excuse me? And the man cashing me out *********************************** statedmaybe you should find somewhere else to go. I was absolutely humiliated and shocked. Not only was my privacy breached and the person unapologetic and rude, but I was treated poorly as the customer. I did absolutely nothing wrong. I just wanted a copy made. I feel violated and taken advantage of. They did not care one bit about my privacy!

The *** Store offers many services including shipping, packaging, printing, shredding, notary and postal solutions for individual consumers and small businesses. Due to the greatly increased shipping volume over the last several years, and the wide range of services offered, The *** Store centers are extremely busy and ours is no exception. Regarding print services: customers can have documents printed using the corporate-sponsored Online Print website or, as another option, they can email documents to us for printing - usually when the customer is unaware of the online print website and/or the need is more immediate. An example would be the customer needs a document printed, perhaps signed & notarized, then perhaps scanned & emailed or shipped express to another location. The Online Print option is strictly for print and the customer has options to detail exactly how many copies they need, whether color or black & white, single- or double-sided, paper size, etc. The email option very often is more complicated and occasionally involves notarial action.

While this customer admittedly did not mention any other service but print, a momentary glance at the document showed signature blocks (already signed) along with notarial verbiage that was unsigned, a very unusual occurrence since, in fact, the duty of the Notary Public is to ascertain the identity of signing individuals and observe those signatures, then affirm that by notarization. The advice given, albeit unsolicited, was cautionary and public service if anything. Further, we do not give legal advice as we are not so trained, but only direction as to the performance of notarial actions. The document content was not even read and it's detail in general irrelevant to the accomplishment of the notarial duty. The exception would be an online/virtual notarization, as she indicates.

In summary: at no time was her privacy breached - her information was not revealed or discussed with anyone. The vast majority of our customers trust The *** Store for services provided.
