I was charged for $100 from my credit card. It was shadow payment. I didn't agree to subscribe to anything, there was a subscription. I tried to cancel subscription on EpicVin *** website yesterday, but it somehow renewed, and I hadn't been told. In my opinion, it was their ***ompetence or ******* additional files there are screenshots of EpicVin website that offer $1 price and $100 recipe. I am filing this complaint against EpicVin due to deceptive billing practices and a low-quality service that does not reflect the price being charged. I initially purchased what I believed was a one-time vehicle history report. At no point during the checkout process was it made sufficiently clear that I was signing up for a recurring subscription.Shortly after my initial purchase, I discovered that EpicVin had charged my account again without my explicit knowledge or consent. This recurring billing feels deliberately hidden and misleading. Its a shady practice that gives the appearance of being a scampreying on consumers who believe they are making a one-time *********** addition to the billing issue, the service itself is not worth the price. The vehicle history report I received lacked detailed information and did not compare favorably to more reputable alternatives like Carfax or AutoCheck. The report felt generic and incomplete, offering little value for the money charged.I believe EpicVin is engaging in deceptive business practices and should be required to make their recurring billing model more transparent and to improve the quality of their reports.Business Response

On May 5, 2025, I was charged $99.99 by EpicVIN for a subscription I never knowingly authorized. I used their service to purchase a single vehicle history report for VIN *****************. At no point during the purchase process was it clearly stated that I would be enrolled in a recurring subscription.Furthermore, I never created a user account with a login or password, which means I had no access to manage, review, or cancel any subscription. After contacting their support, I was denied a refund and instead offered a credit to an account I cannot access or use. This solution is unacceptable.The charge was unauthorized and misleading. I am requesting a full refund of the $99.99, and I will not accept any form of platform credit or partial resolution. Hello,I would like to file a complaint against the company EpicVin. I wanted to check the *** number of a vehicle I was interested in, and on their website, the price was advertised attractively at $1. I decided to purchase the report because the price seemed appealing. However, after 3 days, I was automatically charged a $99 subscription fee. During the account setup/payment process, the site automatically pre-selects, in very small print, an agreement to a 3-day trial period, after which a $99 annual subscription fee is charged.I know I am not the only person contacting you with this problem regarding this company.Please reach out to the company in any way possible to request a refund, as my emails to them have been ineffective. I purchased one report for $1. There was no clear information provided about any trial or subscription, nor did I receive any notification indicating that a subscription would begin. On 4/29/2025 I purchased a VIN lookup from a company called EpicVIn. It was advertised and pushed as a $1 purchase with tax, absolutely nowhere did it say it was actually a trial subscription besides very small print under the Terms and Conditions section that is very very easily missable. So today on 5/2/2025 I check my bank account and to my surprise I have a $99.99 charge from this company for a "subscription" that I was not properly aware of. Contacted the company and they will not refund due to their absurd policies. I am not the only one to fall for this pitfall and borderline scam. I'm seeking a full refund from the company of the $99.99 they charged me as well as possibly a PSA or any other form of alert to let consumers know of this shady tactic they employ. I was charged ****** CAD on May 2, 2025 for "The Unlimited Full History Reports Package" subscription, but I was not going to use it, so I cancelled this subscription immediately. I was not aware that when paying 1 USD for 1 vehicle service history report, I am signing to pay 99 USD for the subscription after 3 days. Because all I needed was 1 report. So I asked for a refund, but they refused. The business didn't try to resolve my problem. Here is their answer: "Thank you for reaching out to us. Weve reviewed your account and would like to provide some details.Our records indicate that you signed up for a trial subscription on 04/28/2025, which transitioned to a full subscription on 05/02/2025. I am rejecting this response because:Nowhere visible when you sign up for the $1 VIN offer on the Epicvin website are you told that they will begin to charge you $99.99 per month WITHIN THREE DAYS of signing up.
It is unfair business practice for a company to hide this onerous a detail in the small print of their terms.
As I have explained to Epicvin, I have been nursing my terminally ill wife in recent months, and have not been able to pay close attention to our bank accounts. Only since she died a few weeks ago (see her death certificate attached) have I noticed that the $99.99 has been taken from us for the last four months.
