My Husband, ***** and I contracted with Precise Painting in February 2021 to paint the exterior of our home. The work began on June 14, 2021 and concluded on June 18, 2021. The total amount paid to Precise Painting for the project was $3550.00. During the week the painters were on site we made them aware that the paint on the gutters didn't appear to be covering as it should and we were concerned. The gutters had very obvious streaks, and areas that appeared to not have enough paint to cover the gutter. Per our contract we were charged for Direct to Metal paint (DTM) due to areas on the gutters being bare metal. This was our original reason for calling Precise Painting . This was not something that presented when the painters arrived on site. We were told that DTm was not used on the gutters, instead Super Paint was substituted due to a paint shortage. We were not told that a substitution was made until i specifically asked. The owner, Tricia had a paint representative from Sherwin Williams come to our home to look at the gutters. He assured us that the paint needed to cure and the streaking that we were seeing would not be an issue. We were told by Tricia G**** that if the streaking persisted that Precise Painting would be back within three weeks from the conclusion of the project to correct the paint on the gutters. As of April 22, 2022 the gutters remain streaked. I have not been contacted at all to rectify the issue. I have reached out to Tricia by text to ask when she could reschedule us to have the gutters repainted. (August 18, 2021, and January 5, 2022). Each time i was provided excuses as to how or why it was not possible. I do not hear anything from Precise Painting unless i reach out to them. As of June 18, 2022 this issue will have been going on for a year. At this time we are seeking a refund of the amount we paid for the gutters to be painted which we were told by David G**** at the time of the estimate is 1600.00

      Business response

      06/15/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 11, 2022/05/23) */ This complaint is made to the wrong company. As Stawn's Pressure Washing ruined the powder coating on most of their gutters. Which is where we had a Rep from Sherwin-Williams agree with us as we used Super Paint which is the best product for this problem, However after 5 coats this customer still was seeing the inconsistency and wasn't shining brand new as they expected. Which was explained on numerus accusation's it would not. They agreed and signed off at completion that it was completed and said we did the best would could considering the pressure washing company they hired ruined the gutters and they would need to buy brand new to get what they originally expected from them. The husband is a car painter and expects it to look like this and this is the farthest from what we bid the project for. Therefore they are at square one to sue the pressure washer company and not drag us into this any further. Consumer Response /* (3000, 13, 2022/05/23) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The response from Precise Painting is inaccurate and contains several half truths. It is true that we hired Stwans Pressure washing, and had an issue with the paint coming off our gutters, Stwans referred us to Precise painting to have the gutters repainted. After the initial estimate we hired precise painting to repaint the entire house which included the gutters. We were told by Tricia's now ex-husband , David G**** that the DTM paint would be a great paint to cover the gutters. The Sherwin Williams rep came after the gutters were painted only to ask his opinion on why the paint didnt cover and the streaks still showed. I was present for his response. He mentioned that the paint needed to cure. He was not consulted with to ask what paint to use ahead of time per an email i received from Tricia G**** on 6/22/21 where she responded to my question as to why the DTM paint was not used. Her response was " DTM was unavailable and was substituted with the super paint which is also a direct to metal paint". It is also not true that five coats of paint was put on the gutters. The gutters were sprayed, and they were sprayed one time. It is true that the front of the house also has one coat that was put on by brush on one gutter to see if the streaks would diminish. Upon completion of the project we did indeed pay the company as we had agreed, but only after Tricia repeatedly assured us she would be back to make sure the gutters cured as the paint rep mentioned. We now know were WRONG to trust her! Additionally, We did not sign off on any documentation upon completion. If what she is saying is true it should have been discussed at the time of the estimate that paid would not fix the flaws in the gutters. Needless to say we wouldn't have hired a painting company! Instead, we were told the DTM paint would indeed fix the issue, but later the paint was substituted without our knowledge. We were only told because i emailed Tricia asking what paint was used on 6/22/21. In lieu of holding true to your word/ promise of coming back to repaint the gutters you are deflecting blame. This is not Stwan's pressure washing issue. Its a Precise Painting issue. We have tried to be nice and understanding for the last year which is over and above fair! Business Response /* (4000, 17, 2022/06/06) */ We have done all we can for this client. They need to contact Stawn's Pressure washing for replacement or the actual Painter contractor at the time of said contract. Paint will not fix the issue. We provided ALL valid warranty processes BY THE BOOK. Sherwin-Williams EVEN INSPECTED AND STATED THE SAME. therefore WE WILL NOT COMPLY WITH A REFUND AS THESE CLIENTS ARE WELL AWARE PAINT WONT FIX THE ISSUE. Also the fact of the matter Painting Contractor David G**** is fully responsible for any further compensation if he decide so fit. Best they contact the county for said complaints. Consumer Response /* (4200, 19, 2022/06/08) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Your company's response is laughable. You have not done all you could for us. You stated on June 18th 2021 that you would be back in three weeks once the paint on our gutters had cured to repaint them. This coming Saturday it will be one year since you made that statement. As we have previously stated, your company was referred to us by the pressure washing company. The fact that you keep stating that Stwans pressure washing is responsible is irrelevant. You were hired to paint our gutters and lied to us by stating you would be back to correct the imperfection issue. The "paint contractor" you are referring to was an owner of Precise Painting at the time of the contract (your husband). Therefore, your company is bound by the contract! It appears your intention is to deflect blame instead of standing behind your word and correcting the issue, or refunding our money. Your previous responses prove our claim of your company's' incompetence.
