Do not conduct business with Tom D***** and Pollywog Pool and Repair LLC. Extremely unprofessional crew, who I am sure would not pass a drug test. According to Tom, "You are probably right. We don't perform drug tests." If you want to clean up a huge mess, choose this organization. My pool sat empty for 4 days before a crew finally arrived. for resurfacing. It basically appeared that a bomb went off with plaster EVERYWHERE. They even managed to get it in to both of my neighbors yard. and they drained the pool (again) to fix the crummy resurfacing job. I wish they would have never showed up. I gave them a chance to correct the issues and they gave it a half-hearted attempt to clean up the mess they left the first time and for a multitude of resurfacing errors. Again, half-hearted attempt where some of the corrections were done, but I am still left with shoddy craftmanship with jagged edges and wavy bullnose edging on my pool. The bullnose edge already has started chipping and is missing plaster. Tom's answer, "That is what a pool is supposed to look like." They also didn't call in a water truck for pool refill, so if you have a well, be ready for them to put some huge stress on your well pump. While my pump is still hanging on, it is about ready to go completely out. Yes, my well pump is a little old (approximately 8 years), but after two pool refills (10,000 gallons each time) my pump was overtaxed as it took a total of 96 hours to fill my pool. You can get a water truck for $600 (I called two such places to confirm), but he says it costs $2,000 and if a pump fails, he is better off paying for a replacement. He know my well pump was a bit older and was hoping that my pump would start failing a few weeks after he was completed with the project. You would also think that they might clean my pool filter after the second attempt and fixing my pool? Nope. I noticed the pool was not clearing up. It took me over 2 hours to get the filter clean enough to work. I am now left with a below average pool that is still in need of repair, a pool pump that needs to be replaced, and over three weeks of stress and frustration. I am certainly not providing his crew a third attempt. It will cost around $1,000 for pump replacement and another $800 minimum for pool repairs. He feels he is now doing me a "favor" by reducing his original quote by $2,200 and feels that constitutes a good will gesture......but it gets better. Keep in mind the project was "finished" 5 days ago (the whole process took 3 weeks). Now he is sending threatening text messages to me that if I don't pay him $6,000 (with a certified check) by noon today, he will need to take "other actions" and his original price of $8,200 will stand. He is playing the victim and my only expectation was great craftmanship, a reasonable time frame for the project to be completed, and limited evidence that a construction project was done. Now he thinks that I am taking advantage of the situation and the pool was done properly.

He was not present at my residence one time while his crew was onsite, Limited instruction was obvious and I had to take the time to explain the project. He is extremely unprofessional with his communication, consistently comes over unannounced to your home, and has no idea what his crew is up to on the job site. He is reactive and not proactive, and will blame the customer for not keeping tabs on the work HIS crew is doing.

DO NOT USE Pollywog Pool. I have a multitude of unprofessional texts and photos of the damage, as well as the original mess that was left. If they are referred to you, request someone else, even if it takes several months to get your project done. I was lucky to get a reduction in my bill, but this does not account for the weeks of frustration, stress, and the additional services that I will now need to plan with others to correct the issues that Pollywog Pools have caused. Not even a one star business in my opinion.

Pollywog Pool and Repair LLC Response

I am very disappointed to hear that Mr. S****** is still unhappy with our company's work. We always try to go above and beyond for all of our customers. I agree that the first time that we resurfaced their pool it was not up to our companies standards so we redid the entire job at, of course, our cost. It is our company policy that we do not collect a deposit, not even a dollar, from a customers until the job is complete and the customer is totally satisfied. As the work was progressing I never heard of one complaint. The only time that negative comments and complaints were made was after the job was completed and we ask for the payment. Mr. and Mirs. S****** then sent a laundry list of issues, some new ones listed above that I heard for the first time. We would have been happy to fix any issues but we were told not to return to the property. To try and please Scott and Karen, we discounted them over 25%, against my better judgement, to try and please them. Obviously there is NOTHING that our company could do to please them. They are complaining about the most ridiculous things. There is nothing wrong with their well pump, it is still working, they could have had water shipped in, but chose not to. They could have discussed ANY issues with me when the work was being done and I would have corrected immediately. We gave money off for all of their complaints. They asked for $1,000 to fix their well and $400 to fix a "bad" tile job. They asked for $1,400 to make them happy, we gave them double that just to be sure I would get paid because they are moving and wanted to make them happy. I gave them a huge discount and their response is to write multiple negative reviews and imply that my worker's and/or myself are on drugs? Disgusting, it you ask me. I agree that in over 25 years in this business this has been the most stressful experience with the most unreasonable customers. I still wish them the best of luck in selling their house and in their future. We will absolutely be making a customer review to warn any contractors from working with Mr. and Mrs. S******, make sure to get your money upfront, there are looking for a discount.
