Our home suffered damage due to Hurricane ***. We filed a claim with the insurance company and proceeded to get a quote for a roof replacement with a local roofer. This roofer gave us a recommendation for an adjuster should we consider working with one. After the insurance company came back with a settlement we were less than satisfied with, we contacted said adjuster who promised us the world. In the end, all we got was a headache, hurt feelings and a hole in our roof. The adjuster did not stay in contact with updates. Months into the process, our insurance company entered bankruptcy with no chance for us to recover any monies. We had to pay for our repairs out of pocket for if not we'd be entering the rainy season with a very damaged roof. We have done all of the leg work and have asked the company for release from the expired contract. The adjusters' response to the request was rude and threatening. We have no interest in doing any business with Five Star Adjusters.

To whom it may concern, Following Hurricane ******** hired Five Star claims public adjuster to do a job I was not sure how to handle. It started out well the process was moving forward with little to no issues. Mid November I was issued a check from ******************** for$34,000 it had my name and five Star claims on the check. Because Five Star Claims was the first name on the check it was mailed to them endorsed by them and then cashed without my endorsement. They deny any wrong doing on the improper handling of my claims check. After this occurred it felt like Five Star Claims stopped advocating on my behalf with ********************. My Fianc and I frustrated with the lack of support from Five Star claims, decided to handle the claim and make headway on our claim. Since December my fianc and I have been handling the claim because we have no trust in Five Star to do right by us anymore. With the amount of money that goes through their hands they should have protocols and procedures and security measures to prevent the loss and theft of endorsed checks. I feel the lack of attention to my claim requiring me to do all the leg work I hired them to do is enough for me to have this contract voided. ******************** claims adjuster *************************** and her supervisor ********************* can confirm that most negotiations on the settlement happened because my fianc and I took matters into our own hands. On Monday May 15th 2023 I sent my fianc with a check for about $64,000 to five Star claims almost 3 hrs away from our home to get endorsed to find out we needed a check for their commission. After confirming with *********************** that I would be allowed to mail the check next day priority I did so in a rush to mail a check for $6400 took pictures of the check receipt and tracking number. Just to be told after spending $45 on priority mail I cant do that so instead of waiting a day for the check they canceled the endorsement. Setting me back months now to get this resolved.

We are very sorry that you had this experience. I want to first say that we did not cash your check. The check was mailed to ** from your insurance as per your insurance companies policy and sadly it was lost. We can not refund you ****** of monies we do not have. The long time line to get fraudulent cashed checks reissue does take time and we are waiting for that to happen.   Tower Hill is currently working to get the check re-issued. The adjuster settled the claim and we have correspondence to confirm this. Again we are sorry your check was lost and we are waiting for the check to be re-issued.

I am rejecting this response because: Yes, the check was mailed to your office, but how do you explain the check being endorsed with your banks stamp and signatures? How does it get cashed after it was endorsed by your companys bank without my signature on it? And how do you have no knowledge of this check coming to your office if it was endorsed by your bank?
someone from your office physically handled the check, didnt report the check, took it to get endorsed with all the other checks, and then took the check and cashed it at another location. The fault is with Five Star Claims and their failure to safe guard thousands of dollars. It begs the question how many other people have had this happen to them and were none the wiser to realize the scam being played. I suggest Five Star Claims get audited for discrepancies in monies issued to monies received by their clients. I would start with the elderly clients first. But thats just me.

      Sincerely,

      *******************************************

Tower Hill is still investigating and we have no knowledge of any mishandling on the side of Five Star. I look forward to hearing the outcome of their investigation.
