I bought a remanufactured engine for my 2001 Jeep Wrangler from********* in Tupelo, MS in May of this year. The motor came from Titan Engines in Ocala, FL. My mechanic got the engine installed and broken in per their instructions exactly. After less than 4000 miles the cam washed and the number 4 cylinder started mis-firing. When we contacted********* they said they contacted Titan and Titan refused to warranty the motor due to an overheating issue because of the heat tabs showing overheating of the motor. My mechanic and I both monitored the engine temps the whole time while breaking in and driving and it never overheated. They promised through autozone a 4 year Unlimited Mileage warranty with "no questions asked" to replace. They are now refusing to own up to the fact that they built the motor with sub-standard parts probably from China and now I am stuck with a $2900 motor from them that they won't replace and won't run. I only want another motor and I only want to make sure that they honor what they said they would do.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/11/28) */ We understand your frustration, and disappointment. We do not offer a "no questions asked warranty" If you were given this type of warranty, then it would be offered by ******** and not Titan. Our warranty was enclosed in the warranty packet, along with the break in instructions. It is a 3 year unlimited mileage. You can read it online if you do not have the supplied warranty.(titanengines.com) I would assume that you contacted your ******** store, and they advised you that we would not replace the engine with burned out heat tabs, which would indicate the engine overheated. The heat tabs are installed on the engines to detect abnormally high engine temperature. The heat tabs are placed on the cylinder head, and on the engine block in an area that is in direct contact with the engine coolant. They can be found mounted on the casting surface or inside the freeze plug. If the engine reaches an operating temperature which exceeds 250 degrees F the center of the tab will flow out. This is a positive and certified method of determining whether the engine reached a temperature beyond normal operating range, thus voiding the warranty as described. The warranty is also void if the heat tab shows any signs of being tampered with or has been removed. Failure of an engine from the effects of overheating is not covered under the limited warranty. We are willing however to help you repair your engine, if you have not cracked the cylinder head, or detonated the engine. We do not know the extent of damage caused by the overheating. You would need to ship the engine back to Ocala, Florida.
