Paid $13k for a wood privacy fence to Penrod Lumber & Fence 12/19/2022.01/13/2023 I went out to find my double gates not opening/not level. Talked to/sent pictures to Tim Ready. Hinges are not the correct size and overhang. I asked about all the nails that are dangerously pointing outside of my fence. "The guys should have trimmed those down and we will have them do that" which I assumed would happen when they came to fix the gate, at this same time I received a double fine from the City of Bronson for not obtaining a permit, the fine was DOUBLE due to Penrod not applying for one. I have an email that I specifically sent to Fred Viola asking if they need to file a permit, he said No. A small crew came out and "fixed the gate" many weeks later but did nothing with all of the nails. It took over three weeks for them to finally complete the permit paperwork. I paid the $150 fine that Fred V**** said, "We have never pulled a permit in Levy County, nor will we ever." Not once did anyone apologize or offer to reimburse me for paying this fine that they should have verified to begin with. With this type of negligence, I knew they would never come verify the issues with the fence and I could just hope the fence holds up. 03/22/2023 I emailed/texted/left voice mail showing my gate was now broken at the hinge, one of the screws was not even in the wood securely. When the crew came to fix that I let them see the leaning side of the fence towards my neighbor's property. The crew walked over and moved sand up against the fence to stop the leaning. It is still leaning, and I can move it. He also did not have black screws to replace the broken hinge, so he put in silver ones and told me to magic black marker them. This $13k fence is already bowing, cracked and discolored like untreated wood in areas. Many nails are not even secured in the main beams and hanging dangerously out. I want a refund or partial refund AND the fence installed correctly and securely.Business response
