Landmark pool refinished my pool, did a salt water conversion and installed a water heater. I would say that pricing and quality is comparable to any other pool company. However, they over promised and under delivered with timeline and service. A 3-4 week project turned into almost 7 weeks. The service was on point up until they had collected 95% of the payment - then towards the end it fell apart. Unanswered texts, emails and a really slow process to actually getting the pool where we could swim. I found out from the subcontracted electrician that our pool pump had failed the same day I thought it was ok to swim. No communication was provided by Landmark pools that I needed a new pump until I reached out confused on what was happening. I would not recommend working with ******************* (project manager) - he was great while they were collecting large payments from us and then failed to fulfill promises; I had to follow up multiple times to get answers and get everything that had been agreed upon. Also, be prepared to clean up heavily after them - debris, water bottles, coffee cups, etc. - very messy (which is most bad contractors).

This customers remodel project began on September 6th and final major phase of construction took place on October 2nd, which was exactly the time frame of remodeling we projected. The salt conversion can not take place until at least 3 weeks after the interior is applied due to the manufacturers warranty guidelines. Adding salt to the pool earlier could cause staining to the finish. The customer is including the salt conversion waiting period in her review which should not be considered remodeling or construction. One other unexpected issue happened after the remodel - the existing pump would not start when we attempted to fire up the pool. Our service manager attempted to inform the customer of this issue as soon as he realized that the pump would not start. She did not answer the door although she was home. *************** was immediately notified to troubleshoot the pump. The very next day they determined a new pump was needed. A new pump was supplied as a change order which caused a delay in starting up the pool. The entire project is complete as of today. Regarding comments about communication - our office and project manager combined sent a total of 60 text messages and 19 e-mails updating the schedule and answering the homeowners questions during the construction and start up phase. We could have done a better job with regular cleanups of the job site but over all, we believe that we finished the original scope of work in a timely manner and were only delayed by the issues with the owners existing pump and the time it took to replace.

    Customer Response

On the comment "service manager attempted to inform me" - if I didn't respond to the door is because I work from home and could have been in a meeting. That's besides the point - a call or text from the project manager to inform me would have re-adjusted my expectations. Getting the new pump installed kept getting pushed without communication. I think that 60 text messages and 19 emails summarizes my experience - I went through multiple projects remodeling my home and the only times I found myself over communicating was because of issues (which was the exception and not the rule with all the contractors I worked with). Also to note that some of my 19 emails were expressing frustration and complaining about my main water line been broken, the faulty pump been left running which caused the pool to emptied down to the first step - both issues caused me water bill money (I have pictures, videos, texts, emails to support these claims), the mess left behind and the only time that my issues were escalated was on October 25th after I mentioned the bad ****** and BBB reviews. That's no way to treat a customer who just paid you over $22K. I'll also have to incur additional expenses fixing the pool deck which was damaged during the project - this is after I explicitly asked the project manager if I should wait to have it done after the pool and he promised that they would take precautions not to scratch or stain the deck.
