A Mr. Michael S. from Sierra Construction ruined our lawn and broke our cement step in the backyard prior to starting the deck. He charged us $7884.00 for the construction of a deck. He started construction on 4/23/21. About a week later, we had an inspector come out to give us his impression of the workmanship, craftsmanship. He said, the guy building the deck was not following code when building the deck. When we questioned the Mike, the builder, he came the next day to take out all the foundational wood that he had used. He refunded us all the money. Then he told me, "I will be back in 2 days to pick up the large cement blocks." He never returned, never responded to text messages, phone calls or multiple emails. We may have to pay up to $300 to remove the large cement blocks, etc., from the backyard. It is so disappointing we'll have to spend hundreds if not thousands to re-do our backyard lawn and re-build our steps. Six months later, he still does not return messages. My desired resolution is for them to pay for my lawn and re-build steps that lead to backyard. Plus, they must remove all equipment and excess supplies used. I wish to see my backyard clean and green as it was prior to Sierra Construction Team the construction of deck--destruction of lawn. This is the contact information given to me by the contractor/builder Michael S. Email : ************************* Cell : *** *** *****

      Business response

      01/10/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 14, 2021/12/03) */ Business response taken verbally by BBB: We returned the money entirely. We built everything that was originally agreed upon and demolished it as she was making unreasonable requests to change the job. We chose to stop doing work for her, cancelling her contract and returning her money in full. I lost money on this job. She needs to prove that I left anything behind after demolishing the concrete slab and deck. Consumer Response /* (3000, 16, 2021/12/14) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Attached are photos of the project in progress at the time. Once we had an inspector come to the house to inspect Mr. S. workmanship, the inspector stated it was against code. If the project was to continue, Sierra would have to start the project all over again. Once we spoke to Mr. S. what the findings from inspector were, he grew angry, tore everything apart and chose to refund us and leave. Never returned. We are trying to attach the email threads between my husband ****** ***** and Mr. Mike S. In the meantime, I will submit these photos. Attached is an email thread between Dr. ****** ***** and Mr. Mike S. of Sierra Construction Team. The ***** Family has been extremely kind and patient with Mr. S. But Mr. S.'s response has been anything but professional, considering the damage incurred by he and his staff. Mrs. **** and Dr. ***** only expected a professional job to be conducted. At this point they just wish to have their lawn replaced and any thing that was left behind by them removed. This accomplished preferably before the holidays. Please assist them with this terrible situation. We are home tomorrow to receive the check and remote control. Will your team be coming tomorrow to remove all of the decking materials? if yes, after 930am will work for us. Also, when they remove the decking material, please ensure they also remove the pieces that are embedded in the ground with concrete. This will be a problem for us going forward with another company. please confirm ? I think is best for both of us to cancel our contract. I will be returning the check you gave me for the amount of $ 3942.00 . I will be removing all pieces of deck to be returned to the supply company. Also, I have your gate remote control. I want to return it back to you. Sorry , I was not able to meet all your expectations. Let me know when I can meet you to give the check and remote control. Appreciate, Michael J S. In order to achieve height we need to remove a large quantity of soil from your patio, it can be done but you need to pay for it. I didn't quote you for it. I can get you permits and change the scope of the job to reflect 2x6. What you need is an Engeniering custom designed deck. That will involve BLUE PRINTS to be presented to the county also we need to revisit and modify the contract. Let me know when we can meet so I can prepare a new quote and start the blue prints. The husband voiced concern over the use of 2 x 4 wood for the substructure of the deck. He recommended we obtain permitting through a retro inspection done by a city-county inspector to ensure the deck is up to code. Before contacting the city for a permit inspection we wanted to let you know. At this time we do not feel comfortable moving forward with the deck without a permit. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. Thank you ******
