I reserved a car with Advantage Car rental at ***. Got to their building, first, no signs telling you what it is, which seemed strange to me. The "agent" at the counter goes into a spiel right away, asking if i ever rented with them before. No, ok license and credit card. Next, we have a $750 deposit, which is absolutely ridiculous and since I'm a ******* resident, 150 miles per day. Ok, that will work but I felt very apprehensive about $750 deposit. I made a remark about this being pretty "f**ked up" and he canceled my reservation right there, which in hind sight was a good thing. The biggest issue about the whole ordeal to me was when I said I needed to take the shuttle back to airport to rent a legit car and they told me no, I had to call an Uber to get back to the airport. Great customer service I would say. Not. I did get back to the airport via the shuttle and rented another car from a different rental co. After reading all the comments on BBB, It was the best thing they did canceling my reservation. I believe I would be fighting them right now for my deposit back. They seem to like to nickle and dime ya for all kinds of stuff, according to other reviews. Stay far away from this company. I felt they were very confrontational as soon as I walked thru the door, better to spend a few more bucks, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.Review from Laurie M

Booked a great price through ******** ******* were great enough for me to take a chance on this firm which I was not familiar with, I book car rentals in ********* regularly. Wait time was over an hour to pick up my pre-booked car (but thankfully not prepaid), when I spoke with the agent they wanted to add additional fees (which I had already declined) and said they couldn't rent the car to me without me paying the additional. I walked across the street to the car rental centre and got a decent walk up deal, way less than advantage with the extra fees and on a much better vehicle. Don't waste your time, stick with Sixt, Budget, Hertz - - - no hidden or extra fees and no c*** Shame on Expedia for offering this vendor.Review from Jamie V

All I've got to say is this is the worst rental car company I've ever rented a car from. They are a total rip-off and they are just scamming. All the people who think they're getting a good deal on a rental car. You will end up getting charged three to four times as much as what you were quoted from like Priceline or any other third party. But they are just fast talking and they have their guest suite talking you and they tell you this and this and this so fast and you don't even know what you're doing and you argue with them because you're told you want the car that you booked your Priceline not what they're trying to make you take. And then I find out that they give you the keys and tell you to go outside and push the panic button on the key fob. That's how you find your car to the known right there. This was a big mistake to rent from. I have been renting cars since I was in my twenties and I'm now 50 plus so I I want to tell everybody to run run as fast as you can from this company and I'm not the only one. Go ahead and look up all the reviews on the better Business bureau or anything. I guess I should have looked into it more before I actually booked it but I have been through Priceline so many times and it had a great experience. I'm even a VIP person there whatever that means but my friend and I are both. Like I said 55 plus and we just wanted a car to get to the airport from the airport to our hotel in ************* and we weren't even planning on using it much like the girl at the counter said. Oh you've got too much luggage we should give you an SUV and we said no. We want the ****** Sentra I actually have a ****** Sentra that I just purchased and all our luggage fit perfect in that so we told her that's what we wanted but it's not what we got. We got this small SUV that could barely hold what luggage we had. The ****** Sentra would have been so much better so I just want everybody to not go with this company. This company needs shut down immediately!!!!Review from Rick M

24 days after having returned my rental in *************** I received a call from my insurance company that advantage is trying to make a claim. They are stating that the vehicle was damaged upon return. This is absolutely false. They checked in the vehicle and everything was good no mention of damage., because their wasn't any. No filling out a claim form for insurance as I've found out is their policy when there is damage. Stay clear of Advantage.Review from Aaron A

Complete bait and switch. Unethically force you to buy additional insurance that is not necessary.If you decline it, the say, " ok. Well take you back to the airport and you can try to get a rental there but, it's going to be just as expensive."The representative actually took my phone out of my hand and asked to read my insurance policy when I was showing him my insurance card on the phone. A fraudulent scam of bait and switch upon your arrival to an offsite car rental company. My experience was horrible.Review from Bill H

Do not rent from this rental company. They lure you in with their low rates and undercut everyone but charge you for vacuuming the car for $250.00! They do not have floor mats in the car so you can not even keep the carpets clean. Take your shoes off before entering the vehicle or it will cost you!Review from David G

Terrible service, I had to wait one hour to get the rental, and becasue I returned the car two hours after i have to pay one fith more (~$130) of the total i have paid for the week. Also the attention on the call center today was even worst. STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!Also they say the are in the airport which is false they are not, and will need to wait for a shuttle close to an hour to take you 20 min away from the airport. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!Review from David W

Horrible business! Straight out extortion.We rented a car **************. Sure enough, upon turn in we were accused of smoking in the car. We didnt. If we subpoenaed security tapes from the various places we visited, ie, the Outback across from the street, The Wyndham in ***********, *** Liquor in ***********, the Publix in *********, they would show us standing outside of the car. But even better is our 2 friends that road with us!! Did we read the reviews, No, our mistake!Upon returning the attendant brought up the issue. We explained exactly what we did at the Outback. I called them out and the attendant stated, IF I DONT DO THIS JOB, THEY WILL FIRE ME!!A direct admission!!The reviews from others have a consistent theme, the Advantage ****************** in ******* will do anything in its power to ensure that customers get penalized monetarily. How this business hasnt been reported to the City attorney, let alone the Florida ************************ for these Buisness practices is beyond my understanding. This place isnt a legitimate business, its license should be taken away immediately.Review from Amber H

We rented a car for $50 from Orbitz. Arrived in ******* at 5:50PM and was advised by the very aloof attendant that since we didn't check in at 10:30AM, we were being charged a $150 upgrade fee. We declined insurance because we have insurance that covers rental vehicles. The very aloof attendant did not advise us that there was a $25 per day fee for declining the insurance. So our choice was to pay for insurance or pay anyways for declining insurance? We ended up paying $376 for what we thought was a $50 rental. Lots of hidden fees.Icing on the cake, when we went to return the car my husband approached a man sitting in a golf cart outside of the rental facilitate and said ***** *** I tell you something?" He replied with "no, you can tell them at the front desk." Well what he wanted to tell him was that he dropped his wallet on the ground. **************** at it's finest.
