This business is shady. I had the initial appointment, went through my financials. She made promises to help in a myriad of resources. We made an action plan, and then I paid the initial $1500 fee. She wanted me to put my money into their actively managed mutual fund. I asked for the return information for three years. I am not going to put my money into a fund blindly. The info showed an 8% return for three years. The market did over 50%. SHE ARGUED WITH ME when I told her that I would instead put my money into an index fund. No matter how I said it, she kept coming back with the same response, "we can make quick changes if something happens in the market, and an index fund won't allow that." I honestly trust the market more than her fund manager, so I keep on with my plan. After that, things went downhill. She started ignoring my calls, wouldn't set up a meeting with me. She didn't act on any of the other parts of our plan. I kept calling, and no response. Finally, I sent an email canceling our relationship and asked for a refund since they took no action after the initial meeting. She said that they would. That was in Sept 2021. Since then, I've gotten the runaround. First, she said she was about to but that her brother was sick, then someone she knew had covid, she had a rough weekend, things are very busy, then the holidays. It cannot be that hard to write a check. Finally, two weeks ago, she said, "the check is in the mail." It's 01/12/22, and still no check. No response from them. She even went as far as to lie and say that she called (no calls missed and no voicemail nor text messages), but she doesn't know why I didn't get the call must be my phone. This is not a legitimate business. She is supposed to be a fiduciary, meaning that she is supposed to be working in the client's best interest, but she isn't.
