I hired First Class Moving and Storage to help me load a moving truck on 8/16/22. At the time of the quote and time of deposit, I was told the movers would arrive between 8am-9am. After I paid the deposit, the evening before the move, someone called and told me the movers wouldn't arrive until 9am-11am. I told them that they needed to arrive close to 9am as I had a 6+ hour drive to make the same day after the truck was loaded. The movers did not arrive until 10:40am. Upon arriving at our destination, we noticed many damaged items. I also paid for a mattress bag that the movers did not put on a mattress, which resulted in damage to our mattress. I contacted the employee who booked the move (Joseph) and was told to submit images and an inventory of the damaged items. I did so on 8/31, and have received no response despite following up directly with the employee that booked the move.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/10/08) */ Good afternoon, Unfortunately, the facts and documents disagree with most of what Mr***** is stating. These are the facts: 1. The arrival time is set by our dispatcher and communicated with customers the day prior to the move, which was the case with Mr*****. He was given a 9AM to 11AM arrival time and the movers arrived and started working at 10:40 AM. 2. Mr***** was not charged for a mattress bag. If he was, he can send us a receipt or invoice showing that and we will gladly refund it. Our records show 4 hours of labor @ $89.00 per hour, less 10% discount = $320.40. Mr***** paid $100.00 on 7/8/22 and $220.40 on 8/16/22. According to the movers he instructed them not to use any mattress bags because he thought the cover that was on the mattress was sufficient. Otherwise, we would have been glad to sell him and mattress bag. Copy of the Bill of Lading showing labor charges and no materials and no mattress bag charges is attached. 3. If there was any damage, it is only because Mr***** did not provide nearly enough moving blankets (pads) to cover and protect his items. According to the movers, he had a handful of moving blankets and based on the information we have, he needed in excess of 30-40 moving blankets to properly protect his items. Our quote clearly states the following "customer to supply moving pads if he would like furniture wrapped". Copy of the quote is attached. Furthermore, we only provided loading services and the truck was driven by the owner several hundred miles outside of the state of Florida and was unloaded by the customer, or another moving company. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for any damage because the move was handled by 2 to 3 different entities, which includes non-professional movers and/or truck drivers. The other reason for damage is because a lot of the items were actually loaded by the customer and his family. We cannot be responsible for customers loading their own items on their own trucks. 4. We received Mr*****'s email on 8/31 and we replied to it on 9/2 explaining our position and the fact we are not liable for any damage, for the reasons stated above. We hope this information helps. Please let us know if you need any other information or documents. Thank you.

1st Class Moving and Storage mailed out post cards advertising a Bonus ****** Gift Card, Code AMADEAL, value up to $250. I contacted this company for pricing and was told the AMADEAL would apply to my move. The move occurred on June 29, 2022. As this complaint is about not receiving the ****** Gift card, I will refrain from detailing all of the other complaints I had on the day of the move such as the slowness of packing and damaged furniture. On August 23, 2022 I followed up with Joseph at 1st Class Moving and Storage via email. He responded with "I will check on that and get back to you". I doubt he will get back to me, therefore I am filing this complaint. 8 weeks should have been ample time for us to receive the advertised ****** gift card.

On the 21 April 2021 I received final quote form 1st class Moving and Storage to professionally pack, move and unpack my furniture and belongings. Included in the quote was an agreed upon $30,000 "Gold Plan Full Valuation Option" with a $250 deductible that the company recommended which cost an additional $170.00. I paid them $100 deposit. On the 22 April 2021 1st class Moving and Storage packed my furniture. I paid them $2,657.25 (labor, materials, gold plan full valuation option) On the 23 April 2021 1st class Moving and Storage moved my furniture. The move started at 8:30am and ended at 9:30pm. I paid them and additional $3,151.56 for a total of $5,908.81. There were 6 movers divided in to two teams of three persons. One team was strong and professional and could handle the weight of the furniture. The second team did not have the necessary strength to move the furniture effectively and the furniture they handled received damages. The move ended at 930pm so the damages to the furniture that the second team handled were not noticed immediately. I unpacked my furniture on 24 and 25 April 2021 Saturday and Sunday and noticed the damaged furniture. On the 26 April 2021, I reached out to 1st class Moving and Storage to inform them about the damaged furniture. On 1 May 2021 1st class moving and storage sent me a claim form to complete. On 21May 2021 I sent the completed claim form back to 1st class Moving and Storage along with the requested pictures for a total claim of $17,039. From 26 April 2021 to the 8 July 2021 I sent multiple e-mails correspondence, pictures and made phone calls to 1st class Moving and Storage to provide them the details on the damages incurred. On 12 July 2021, I received a denial letter from 1st class Moving and Storage indicating that my claim was denied. Per discussion with 1st class Moving Services when I purchased the valuation insurance and as stated on the claim form, claims must be submitted within 30 days from da

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/05/13) */ There are many allegations stated here that are factually incorrect: "I received final quote form 1st class Moving and Storage to professionally pack, move and unpack". The quote provided and services provided did not include any unpacking, it included packing, moving and unwrapping and setting up of furniture items only. "Included in the quote was an agreed upon $30,000 Gold Plan Full Valuation Option with a $250 deductible that the company recommended". 1st Class Moving does not recommend that the customer buy or not buy any coverage. We provide the facts and prices and we let the customer decide based on their budget and risk tolerance. "I unpacked my furniture on 24 and 25 April 2021". ALL of the furniture items were unwrapped, inspected and full setup on the move date by our movers. a final walk through to double check every item always takes place at the end of each move to ensure that everything is in the right place and is in good order and good conditions. "There were 6 movers divided in to two teams of three persons. One team was strong and professional and could handle the weight of the furniture. The second team did not have the necessary strength to move the furniture". This move consisted of 1 team only made up of 6 movers. There are people who specialize in handling heavy furniture, others who specialize in packing the truck efficiently and others who specialize in packing small delicate items who need more care and attention to small details than strength and muscles. In summary, this move was completed in good order and everything was inspected prior to our movers' departure. The customer decided to file a claim for an alleged $17,000 worth of damage exactly 30 days after the move, and 30 days after he signed a contract saying that he received all items and all services in good order. Copies of the 2 days Bills of Lading are attached. This is why the claim was denied. Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2022/05/17) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) 1. Quote was for Moving, Packing and Unpacking. See quote attached (Local Quote.pdf). 2. I informed 1st Class Moving and Storage within 72 hours that there were damages. See April 26 e-mail (April 26 e-mail.pdf). 3. Claim form instructions from 1st Class Moving and Storage indicated I had 30 days to submit claims. See item 1 page 1 of Claim form instructions attached (Movers Claim Form 628 OCR-signed 21May2021.pdf). 4. The business advertised a valuation program to minimize the risk of the move. I selected the Gold program which had $30,000 coverage with a $250 deductible. See page 9 of Local Move Info Packet attached(Local Info Package 2021.pdf). The business has not honored the terms of the valuation program. 5. The movers delivered the furniture at 950pm in the evening (see 114760BOL.pdf). The 6 movers were exhausted and wanted to leave. They did not unpack and set up all furniture. No walk through was performed to ensure that each furniture was in good order and good condition. 6. 1st class Moving and Storage provides a substandard product. The valuation option is a an outright misleading sham. The claims process is a disingenuous circular black hole that has no intention of honoring any claim. Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2022/06/02) */ As we stated earlier, all items were inspected at time of delivery by 1st Class employees and by the owner and everything was confirmed to be in good conditions and in good order. The owner signed off confirming that they have received everything in good conditions, at the end of the job and under no obligation. If they felt that it was too late to inspect their items, as they are alleging, they could have simply refused to sign. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done at this time. This claim is fraudulent and is only an attempt to defraud the company for baseless allegations. $17,000 worth of damage on a local same day move is unheard of, and unfortunately cannot be honored. Consumer Response /* (4200, 17, 2022/06/13) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Like most typical families, my family does not move homes very often. When my family did decide on a new home, I wanted a reputable moving company that would take care of our furniture. As such I hired 1st Class Moving to do a comprehensive move for us which would include packing, moving and unpacking. I thought that having a professional moving company do a comprehensive job (including packing, moving and unpacking) would minimize the risk of damage to my furniture. Based on the recommendation of 1st Class Moving I also purchased a valuation protection for my belongings. Based on the advice from 1st Class Moving I purchased the I selected the Gold program which had $30,000 coverage with a $250 deductible. I followed the guidance and instructions of 1st Class Moving during the estimate and moving process. I also followed 1st Class Moving's instructions for filing the claim for damages. I have followed all instructions provided by 1st Class moving services to the tee, yet my furniture was damaged and the coverage has not been honored. My experience with 1st Class Moving has been substandard. In my opinion the reason my furniture was damaged was because 1st Class Moving used substandard movers that could no handle my heavy furniture. In addition, 1st Class Movers squeezed the move into 1 day forcing their workers to work continuously lifting heavy furniture for over 12 hours. These factors had a significant unfavorable impact to my furniture and personal belongings. The workers acknowledged there were damages to my furniture at the end of their shift. The workers informed me that I had 30 days to notify the Company. I notified the 1st Class Moving within 72 hours via e-mail that there were damages incurred during the move. I reached out repeatedly to 1st Clas Moving both by e-mail and by phone to get status on the claims process. 1st Class Moving did not respond to my claims until 7/20/2021 (Almost 3 months after my move). There is nothing 1st Class about 1st Class Moving. They treat their employees horribly. They treat their customers horribly. 1st Class Moving only responds when making the sale and collecting money. 1st Class was nowhere to be found and could not be reached when my furniture was damaged and the claim was submitted. 1st Class Moving had no intentions of honoring the Valuation Coverage Option that they sold me. The owner of 1st Class Moving responds as he knows what occurred in the conversations between the customer and his workers. The owner of 1st Class Moving was not present during the estimate, during the contract, during the packing, during the move nor during the claims process. I am extremely disappointed and regret doing business with 1st Class Moving and Storage.
