As part of a master bathroom remodeling project, we hired Associated Piping Services, Inc. to install a bathtub (same size as the original) and faucet. The tub was installed incorrectly as it was not square to the walls. This issue was identified by our remodeling contractor. We promptly notified Associated Piping Services of the situation and provided photos. Without coming out to verify, a company representative determined this is an issue of walls was not being square and not related to workmanship. Associated Piping Services refused to do anything correct this situation. The cost of this service, plus parts, was over $800.

We are sorry for your experience with the remodeling of your master bathroom. The bathtub was installed properly...the issue is with the bathroom walls/drywall because they are not squared. The bathtub is not defective. Our supervisor contacted you to schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss the issue with the walls, but you declined. In good faith, we discounted your invoice $260 even though the issue was not caused by us as the bathtub was installed properly. We have honorably served the Orlando community since 1986 and have an impeccable reputation as we have served thousands of families throughout the years. Thank you for the self-serving response. First off, the $260 refund had nothing to do with this complaint. The so-called "good faith" refund was due to Associated Piping Services' attempt to overcharge for services above the agreed upon hourly rate. Angela, with Associated Piping Services, initially quoted (in an e-mail) $89.95/per hour for a plumber. Adding the cost a plumber's helper increased the rate to $120/hour plus parts. Which I agreed to pay.

After the bathtub installation was complete the hourly fee increased to $179.90/hour (the rate for two plumber's). After a complaint call was made to Mike, with Associated Piping Services, I was charged $134/hour which added additional $75.00 to the invoice. At any rate, the overcharge was addressed well before it was realized the bathtub was set incorrectly. Hopefully Associated Piping Services does not have a business practice of intentionally overcharging customers.

Next, the subject wall (which is 36" long) is within acceptable tolerance (i.e. square). Mike agreed to a sire visit; however, the follow-up visit was cancelled when Mike stated that he would come out to look at the situation but would not change his opinion.

Everything said, I believed I was contacting a competent plumbing company to perform a routine bathtub installation. That proved not to be the case in this instance. If Associated Piping Services is interested in correcting this matter, a refund in the amount of $670 (5 hours X $134) would be issued for the labor rate paid.
