On April 22, my credit card was charged $99 by All Pool. There was no explanation, no invoice delivered, just an unexplained charge. A few weeks earlier (on April 5), one of their technicians installed a pool light at our home. I was charged $750 (before the job was even started) for that service. I had been told by an employee, Emerald, that a $99 estimate fee would be charged prior to this work and that it would go toward that final $750 fee. Since I was never charged that $99 initially, I figured that they just decided to charge me the $750 as a lump sum. So, when this $99 charge appeared, I thought it was a mistake and called All Pool to inquire. I left a message, it was never returned. I called again on April 27 and spoke to Emerald once again. She was unable to give me a breakdown of costs, or to let me speak with a manager. I mentioned that messages I have left in the past have gone unanswered and that I would be filing a BBB complaint. I would like my $99 refunded and our original agreement honored. If I had initially been charged the $99 estimate fee and if it had gone toward the final cost of the work as promised, then my balance would have been $651 for the light installation. But since I was charged the full cost of the work, this extra $99 is being tacked on to the $750 and not deducted from the cost of the work as I was told it would be. The one statement I received (attached) reflects no work done and no payments made. The estimate I received is also attached. I asked Emerald to ensure that All Pool does not keep my credit card number on file since these are the sorts of business practices they engage in.
