Sod was laid on April 18 and treated by lawn service one week later. Birds began flocking to our yard and the sod didnt look good at all. On May 15th I called the lawn service back(Signature Lawn) They reported sod worms were killing the sod and he treated it. Precision Sod stated that the sod definitely did not have worms when they brought it. Well, the sod had eggs that hatched in just a few days. They wont take responsibility for the issue. I paid them in cash. I have a receipt. $4800.00. Precision swears the sod was not infested but it had to be. The worms come from only one place. They should refund a portion of our money at the least. I dont want replacement sod. The picture below is our house the day of the sod was laid and how it looks now.

      Good afternoon,

We do not lay any sod that has any issues. We purchase our sod from highly reputable sod fields. If these sod fields sold sod that has any issues at all they would simply not be in business. They maintain and take care of the sod before it is cut fresh the morning of delivery. I can absolutely assure you we did not lay the sod with eggs that were going to hatch. If these eggs were present it would have ruined the sod well before it was cut from the field. Worm eggs can fall from a tree on the clients property surrounding the new sod after its laid, which is what we believe to have happened. There are no trees around the sod that is cut as it is one big empty field. We also laid multiple houses with sod from that same field that same week and had no issues with any other houses. The lawn care company is recommended to be called and told to come out ASAP after sod is laid to stay ahead of any issues. From my understanding the lawn maintenance company did not arrive until a week (April 25) after sod was installed which gives plenty of time for issues to arise. We did send her the sod instructions the morning after install as we came back out to roll her yard the next morning. Please see attached photo of job before we left, and estimate that was agreed on. Per estimate at the bottom where it says disclaimer it states there are no refunds no guarantees and that after we leave it is clients responsibility to maintain as this is a living product and there are no ways for us to know what was put on or done to the sod incorrectly or correctly. The sod was in absolute beautiful condition when we left and at time of payment.

I am rejecting this response because: I called Signature Lawn to come out but one week later was the EARLIEST that they could come out.  They didnt detect sod worms on the first visit.  I called them for a follow up because the sod was dying and then we found out that there were sod worms.  We have no trees surrounding our property except across the street on a vacant lot.  We have a pigmy palm in the front yard.  We followed all Precisions  instructions and were shocked when we found out what the problem with the sod was indeed. We have invoices from Signature regarding both treatments.  We had never heard of sod worms.  Our original grass was not dying but we wanted St Augustine Grass instead sine we had just landscaped the yard.
I guess we will never prove why we have sod worms but we are sincerely disappointed in the new sod.  Signature will be back on Monday for another follow up.  We hope the sod does not have to be replaced by another company.  $4800.00 cash is quite a bit of money to throw away on sod. We never dreamed this could happen to our sod.  Its very suspicious that this happened and I dont think it is  going to be resolved until Precision  takes responsibility which is not going to happen.  It feels like seniors being taken advantage of.

      Sincerely,

      Victorian ******

Stated in your response is that when signature came out there were no issues with the sod. Your reason for rejection is actually proof that we did not lay the sod with any issues. We most definitely dont take an advantage of seniors and we actually go the extra mile for a lot of the seniors who need extra help. We do not appreciate you making such accusations! If you had reached out a week after stating there were issues we would have tried to work with you. You waited 4 weeks to reach out. At that point we cannot know what happened to the sod during those 4 weeks. We sincerely hope signature can successfully treat your lawn and stand by the fact that we did not lay sod with worms in your yard.

I am rejecting this response because: your company cannot provide proof of no eggs present in the sod upon installation.  Signature came out and treated lawn one week later and was the earliest that they could come.  The report at that time was c**** bugs but they didnt detect any sod worm issues. However, when we called them back, he had to send a pic of the grass to another tech to find out exactly what was the problem. There may have been issues upon his first visit but he didnt detect them.  We did not get back with Precision until we were certain what the sod issue was and that is logical.  It was exactly 4 weeks later after we had followed all the instructions and were very conscientious that we contacted Precision.  Yes, we are seniors,  and we have to be very careful with all providers these days. I have the email reports from Signature and can submit them.  Its logical and entirely probable that the sod had eggs in it.   The sod is seeding and I guess that is good.  However, Signature said they never seen sod seed like that before?  He advised not to cut until July?  Supposed to be a follow up today by Signature.
We are disappointed with our sod.

      Sincerely,

      Victorian ******
