TFR was contracted to provide overlaid asphalt at 1.5" and a base of crushed concrete for new paved areas on my residential driveway. After the asphalt was laid large areas showed significant quality issues of separation and an inconsistent asphalt mix (see pictures). Terry with TFR said that the mix was not hot enough when picked up from asphalt plant but it was not his responsibility. It was also verified by several of his employees that areas of the driveway were at or less than 1/2" in thickness. They came out and tried to melt spots together with a propane tool and roller and continued to do more damage to the driveway. There final solution was to put a coat of seal coat over it because it looked so bad. Within 33 days grass started growing through the middle of the driveways in several places (see pictures). In 35 days break started happening in multiple places where only normal size cars and trucks have driven (see pictures). I began sending pictures immediately by text when this started and continue to do so every time a break in a new area develops. Terry and TFR has never responded to my text and emails and will not take my calls.Business response

TFR completed the job to the customer’s satisfaction. Prior to completing the job, TFR offered to completely remove the pre-existing driveway, but due to the expense of that, the customer declined. As a result, TFR repaired the old driveway, and put a new asphalt layer over the pre-existing driveway. TFR also widened the turn radiuses and the driveway at the apron of the garage. Prior to performing the work, TFR explained to the customer one area would need to be applied by hand, instead of by machine, due to its size. As it was not machined, this area would not be as smooth as the other areas, for obvious reasons. When the customer complained about the hand-tooled area after it was completed, TFR brought in some fine millings and heat equipment to smooth the area out further. In addition, the customer demanded certain areas be sealed, despite sealant not being in the original scope of work. TFR completed this sealing work at its own cost. After the sealing was completed and after the additional fines were added, the customer paid in full. TFR explained during the process that the customer should not drive on the edges of the asphalt once completed, or turn vehicle wheels while a vehicle was not moving, as this would damage the asphalt. Shortly after installation, someone other than TFR drove over the edges of the asphalt on at least two occasions damaging it. Despite TFR not being responsible for this damage, TFR came back to the customer’s house and repaired this damage, at TFR’s cost. After the second repair, TFR informed the customer it could not longer absorb the cost of damage caused by others, and would no longer repair such conditions without compensation. Proper materials and workmanship were used on this job. TFR stands behind its work, and will repair any condition caused by poor materials or bad workmanship.
