I hired them to file my taxes in 2017 and every year since. They have been paid directly from my bank from auto withdrawal and I just made my last payment of 300.00 towards my 4000.00 charge. The CEO sent me an email asking for an additional 3950.00 and I told the receptionist not to make any further withdrawals since I had already paid and asked to leave a message with my agent. I received another email from the boss telling me that since I was refusing to pay that my appointment was canceled and they would be pulling my paperwork from the agent. I owe the IRS money and they have continually told me that they would work with the IRS to reduce my debt as I could not afford to pay 30.000 plus an additional 10.000 in back taxes. I was trying to make payments to the IRS but they never got to that. I now have a lein on my home and no way to get my information from them. Years ago, when they called me, it was a cold call and I was interested only because they were local. I thought that it would be better to do business with a local company, especially when I'm dealing with the IRS. I am still in the same position I was and still owe all this money. They have never gotten to the point where they talked to the IRS and made arrangements for me to even have the envelopes to make the payments. Now they will not speak to me without another $3900. I don't know what recourse I have, but I definitely don't want other people to get caught in this trap. I have been paying them every year faithfully and I still have taxes to pay that they have not given me the information on. I have asked over and over again because I need to make this right. I have the emails they have sent me and can print them but do not know how to upload emails.

      Business response

      08/26/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/08/01) */ Ms. ****** hired Insight March 4, 2019. The Internal Revenue Service filed a tax lien on December 21, 2018, which Ms. ****** was aware of the lien being filed when she hired Insight. Insight has filed Ms. ******'s tax returns for tax periods 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. Ms. ****** owed additional liability for each tax period, except for 2020. Insight reviewed Ms. ******'s financial information, contacted the Internal Revenue Service, and negotiated her account into a Currently Not Collectible Status with the Internal Revenue Service, which means she doesn't need to make a payment at all. Once Ms. ******'s 2021 tax return was prepared, and a new balance was accrued, Ms. ****** was quoted to renegotiate resolution on her account. When a taxpayer accrues additional liability, an installment agreement or Currently Not Collectible Status will have to be renegotiated as the new liability will default any prior agreement with the Internal Revenue Service. This was explained to Ms. ******. Insight also discussed the taxpayers tax lien. Insight explained the lien was filed prior to hiring us and additional liens are filed on new tax periods when new liability is accrued. It was further explained to Ms. ******, an installment agreement to full pay can be established over a period of 60 months, once her balance is under $25,000.00, (current balance is $37,000.00) and she is current on her current year tax deposits, a lien discharge can be submitted to the Internal Revenue Service. The quote for renegotiating her resolution would still be necessary as Insight has to renegotiate with the Internal Revenue Service due to the additional balance on tax period 2021, regardless of the resolution strategy. Ms. ****** decided she would contact the Internal Revenue Service on her own. The phone number to the Collections Division of the Internal Revenue Service was provided per her request. Attached is Ms. ******'s contract, showing the date she hired Insight, a copy of her account transcript, showing the date the tax lien was filed, and her project summary that shows all work that has been completed on her behalf. Ms. ****** has paid Insight a total of $5,500.00 since December 2019; Insight has billed $12,637.00.
