My son bought a car from Florida Suncoast Auto Brokers in *********** in January 2024. Since the first week, hes had mechanical issues. Now, a month later, the engine is irreparably damaged with a cracked block, costing $4,500 - $6,000 to replace. Hes on disability and cant afford it, feeling the dealership exploited his situation. Meanwhile, the financial company demands loan repayment. Can you assist us?Business response

We have repeatedly reached out to ****. He does not answer our calls. I am not obligated in anyway to pay for repairs but I was going to offer to pay for a used engine. I found one with ****** miles for $1000. He would have to pay for the installation. My mechanic said it would run between $800-$1200 for the labor. He bought it As Is No warranty. At the time of the sale it was suggested he purchase a warranty through the lender or one through our company. He chose not to purchase it. This vehicle was running fine and I personally drove it myself. Unfortunately thing like this happen. But we are not responsible.Initial Complaint

On July 14, 2023 I purchased a 2004 ***** Kodiak from Florida Suncoast Auto Brokers to begin my business as a transporter. we were advised that the vehicle was in top notch condition and that we were getting an awesome truck. The truck sat in our driveway for months, cranking it up and letting it run and driving around the blocks a few times a week to make sure it stayed active, while we were making sure of our business transactions were complete with the *** and the ***** an that took many months because its a process and very expensive. The very first load we did to ***** Florida, we did not make it back home. towed back to our home form miles away, I had a diesel mechanic look over the vehicle. took him over five hours one day and the next day about 3 hours to completely go through everything to determine that this truck should have never been sold due to a gas leak and many many other issues. ******** advised that we purchased a lemon. When i called the dealership to advised them of this, the owner laughed at me and said, "maam there is no lemon law in Florida. I paid $****** down and the finance company paid them ******. for something that will cost me over ****** to repair per the diesel mechanic.Business response

To Whom It May ****************** & ****************** purchased a 2004 Chevrolet Kodiak on July 14, 2023. At the time of purchase they were offered the option of purchasing a warranty from our dealership or from their lender, they declined the purchase.
***************** was given the option to take the truck to her mechanic of choice before purchase, she chose not to. After her complaint regarding mechanical issues, we offered to send a mobile diesel mechanic to her place of business to diagnose the issues with the vehicle. ***************** declined our offer.
When ***************** called to raise her concerns about the Kodiak she was informed that there is no Lemon Law in Florida on used vehicles, at no time did anyone laugh at her about this situation. ***************** was offered several remedies to her problem with the truck, but declined all offers.
The 2004 Chevrolet Kodiak was purchased locally by our dealership for re sale and was driven by an employee with no issues.
Having had the vehicle in their possession for 7 months without complaint it is impossible for us to know what was being towed with the truck and how it was being maintained by the ********.Initial Complaint

2/09/2022 I purchased a vehicle for over $20,000. I provided a $5,000 down payment. The vehicle broke down on the side of the road 2 days after I picked it up, but was able to drive it for 1 more day before it was unable to drive at all. I then brought the vehicle in for diagnosis and was quoted $10,000 for repairs. I was instructed by the business to buy the parts myself and have his guy install it. However, they apparently want me to pay for the rest of the repairs as well. I've already paid for the diagnosis which was $100, new set of keys for $200, and the parts for $300. This is not including the 4 new tires it still needs on top of the repairs. I've now had to rent a vehicle for at least another $500 until the vehicle is repaired. I had no issue paying for the keys and the tires as long as the vehicle actually worked. So after investing this much money, I feel as if I was wronged and tricked into buying a vehicle that was actually not able to drive for even one week.
