On the morning of April 8, I called and spoke with the one and only mechanic at the shop “Bones” , at American Lube Fast better known as “Grease Monkeys.” I verified that he could do a brake change and agreed that I would get the car dropped off and that he would notify me of the charges and fees before hand due to him having to get the brakes ordered from another location and that I may need roters etc. I went all day without hearing from him and then had the same friend that dropped the car off go back to check on it . Bones had left for the day and told me I owed $516 and not only that he went ahead and replaced the brakes but the car was now inoperable because the “Ab” system locked up while he was performing the brake change . While I was on the phone asking questions, he proceeded to cuss at me and threatened to call the sheriffs department, which I proceeded to tell him to go ahead because I would do the same. When I called the shop and spoke to another employee, he proceeded to apologize over and over and tell me he completely understood, but had no information to give me as far as an owner or corporate once I did finally receive a call from the owner. He then proceeded to tell me that $516 is their normal fee and that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my car. I asked several times are you sure that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my car? If you can , promise me that I will authorize my credit card to be swiped and I will never deal with you again because if I would have been quoted this astronomical amount for breaks, I would’ve said no to begin with. He says that he needs to double check I say double check on the price or double check that there’s nothing wrong? he calls me back again, he will have to go to another store to get a computer to unlock the ABS system . I show up on site and the story has changed yet again and now the car is inoperable due to a master cylinder and they are demanding payment . I need help determining what to doInitial Complaint

Whoever did my oil change did not put oil in my car now my motor has blew up the computer states I got a oil change a couple weeks ago the manager came in check my truck no oil leaks or seals broke he is not trying to fix my carInitial Complaint

On January 11th, I had my sister take my car to get an oil change because it was close to the time I needed one. She webt to American Lube on Navy Blvd for a service. On February 13th my car started to not crank. I had someone look at my car no only wad there no oil. The oil was in the wrong spot. I called the store that morning when they opened. The manager Daniel answers and I speak to him about it and he offers to come to my house and look at my car. I allow him to even though I have never heard of companies like this being allowed to leave to come to a customers home. He comes to my house and looks at my car he first looks under all my caps and realizes my transmission fluid had oil and he even said it, then he says where the tranmission fluid is its not correct then he says he does not know what that fluid is. I then ask him if I go test it and its oil will you recognize that you all originated the problem. I was told no because my car was old and it was time for it to go out anyway. They also told me I had an engine oil leak that was not true. I called corporate which is a Colorodo number to put in a complaint and was told I would hear back at least 24 hours i asked so i wont hear back until tomorrow the woman says yes. Not even 10 minutes later an Ohio number calls and he says he is the corporate Manager Jeff he tells me he has been in this business as long as I have been alive and my car is old and my complaint isnt valid and i told him i will have to take it to court he told me do what you have to do you will not win.Business response

We were on the phone with Dan when he was looking at the vehicle. We responded quickly, and we explained what we witnessed and saw. The owner of the vehicle was not present during the inspection or conversations. They were stating oil was in the power steering not transmission, and this was confirmed with the tech on site in his statement. I tried speaking with the customer, and she was irate and cursing me out. She was supposedly taking it to a 3rd party to have the fluids checked and we never heard anything. Please feel free to call our location and speak with the assistant manager that was on site with this issue.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:i never got loud or cursed them out. I was told they have been doing this as long as I have been alive. He did come to my home when i was there to look at the car and he was not on the phone nor had a piece in his ear. I did have it checked my a third party and they said it was oil where the transmission fluid was

I went in Saturday for an oil change at the Michigan Ave location. After returning home I was informed of something dragging underneath the undercarriage of my vehicle. This is not the first time something like this has happened where they used zip ties to hold a part onto my car because they lost the bolts used to hold it in place. When I called to tell them my vehicle is now inoperable and I would have to pay an Uber to drive my daughter to school the next day they acted as if they didn’t care and offered no resolution except they would have a manager call me. They never did! So I paid them almost $90 for a standard oil change for them to damage my car and make it inoperable. They need to be held accountable for being unprofessional and putting my childrens lives at risk.Business response

Both the skid plate and the hardware were replaced with factory oem equipment purchased from the Honda dealer. Both the district manager and myself have since reached out and offered a 100% off oil change to earn her business back in which she assured us she'd be back.
