    I was an RN at West Florida Hospital for 27 years, so the relationship between the doctors at the Medical Center Clinic was important to me, even though they are not in network with my insurance, I continued to use these doctors. Many years ago I saw Dr Saul Ullman when he was an ophthalmologist there. Then when Dr Tim McLaughlin came, I was handed off to him; then when Dr Gayla Rowland came to ophthalmology, I was handed off to her. Well, recently she left, & because I had seen Dr McLaughlin previously, I chose to see him again. I have glaucoma & chronic dry eyes & had cataracts removed in September & November of 2023 to the out of pocket sum of about $7000. I only receive social security & am on a prescription assistance program to help with one of my unaffordable glaucoma drops & the same with my Restasis for my chronic dry eyes. The doctor has to fill out a paper for the pharmaceutical company & I have to provide proof of need through my income. Up until this year, Dr McLaughlin’s office had filled out the paperwork just fine. But this year, I have been trying since November 2023 to get them to fill out the paperwork correctly. I have left messages with his office staff to no avail; his office manager, to no avail, the admin secretary and Quality Assurance. NO ONE WOULD RETURN MY CALL. Interaction & communication with the patient is key in a doctor/patient relationship, & they failed miserably in interaction & communication. Even the pharmaceutical company would fax paperwork explaining what was needed, & they never received anything. I had a face to face meeting with the office manager, & she was to take care of it, but she screwed it up also. I had an appointment with the doctor on 6.11.24 & he basically told me his staff didn’t have time for me. I finally wrote the administrator, but before she had time to receive it, the doctor severed our relationship. I never heard from the administrator in response to my letter. Why do they not respond to patients?
