On May 9th, 2024, I sent a text to ******** asking that he give me a call. I have unfortunately been a victim of credit fraud and was wanting to ensure that this would not impact what Credit Cake was doing; with attempting to help me improve my credit. So, if I am calling to ensure this, of course I want to keep the service, I just wanted to be sure, after I filed my police report. He spoke to someone, and stated that it would not impact their services, however I explained to him that I wanted to file a police report first, and then call them back and let them know when to proceed.Five days later, the payment came out anyway. When he contacted me, he stated that on the recorded call I did not say "Cancel the services". So, because I did not use those exact words, they processed the payment. He agreed that I informed him on the recorded call that I would contact them once I made the police report, but he insisted that this was not the same as saying "Cancel the services. This is very misleading, ridiculous, and predatory. The services for this payment, hadn't even started. They couldn't even wait, so that I could gather the information, to file the police report. What sense does it make, to have an open police investigation, all credit files frozen, and then you guys are disputing credit too? So even if I did not say "Cancel the Services" that is just basic business knowledge, or even common sense. You guys have been in this business for over 13 years, no one is remembering the exact words they need to use, to cancel their services; but you understand when someone is a victim of credit fraud, and need to take a break from your services. Furthermore, if I say hold off, until I file this report that is exactly what I mean. Although you are saying this will not impact what you do, I still wanted to be sure once I spoke to the local police. This is shady practice, and I am also going to report this to the Teacher NextDoor program and disputing this charge through my bank.

I was referred to this company by the Teacher Next Door program. They told me there was an introduction fee of $94.99 which I paid. Then one month later, we had contacted a mortgage lender who recommended we not use a credit repair company. I called exactly 1 month later and they stated that because they charge for services rendered, I still had to pay $99.99. I don't want to continue service and believed I had already paid for the first month. Of course, he states that it was all in writing on the contracts I signed. I am disappointed that an organization such as the Teacher Next Door program uses a company that has shady payment arrangements. Now, I either pay the $99.99 or it will go to collections! The exact thing I was trying to fix.

    Good afternoon,

Thank you for contacting us. At Cake Credit, we prioritize transparency and integrity in all our dealings. As discussed during our consultation call, welcome call, and in the personal email sent to all our clients, our billing policy is designed to be clear and straightforward. Upon commencement of services, which began on April 1, 2024, an enrollment fee of $94.95 was due. Subsequently, a monthly billing cycle commenced, 30 days later. Please rest assured that our billing practices comply with credit repair laws, and all relevant information is detailed in your client agreement.

Our records indicate that your services began on April 1, 2024, with the enrollment fee payment. Notably, there was a successful removal of a bad debt exceeding $500 as a result of the initial dispute. Additionally, the second set of disputes was mailed out on April 29, 2024. Your billing cycle concluded on May 1st, covering the initial 30 days of service provision. It's crucial to emphasize that billing for monthly services in advance is prohibited by law.

I noticed your request to close your account came only after the declined billing notice was sent regarding the transaction for services already provided. We made attempts to contact you yesterday to address your BBB complaint and one-star Yelp review to clarify the billing matter further, but unfortunately, we were unable to reach you.

    Sincerely,
